  1. C200HE-CPU42 & RS-232

Thank you Jay, I will call and see if any of those are in stock.
  2. C200HE-CPU42 & RS-232

Ok, I could have sworn that the C200HE could do RS-232 with a communications board or expansion card, but CX-P wasn't giving me any option for an expansion board or card. Because of this I started looking over the internet for a part number, but cannot find something for the C200HE. Is there a SCU or SCB available for the C200HE? if so, can someone offer me a part number?
  3. CQM1H PLC

Because everyone else who has asked about making this cable has proved your feeling.
  4. NS Screen and sound.

They were a band from like 1968 to 1995ish.... Honestly, I had only heard of them, know nothing about them though. (not old enough LOL) Internet works wonders though to find info
  5. NS Screen and sound.

Ok, really crazy Idea, but is there any way to make an NS touchscreen play sound? I know it has some way of making noise due to the key beep and the error beep, but I was thinking more along the lines of it playing a midi or wav file.

Depending on which model and which modules are installed, Omron PLC's can talk on almost any standard format to other devices. Some of the things they do: RS-232 RS-422/485 Ethernet Controler Link CAN DeviceNet FL-Net Compoway/F Also, that looks like its just adverdizing an I/O expansion card.
  7. NS Screen and sound.

    Its actually Strongbad from http://www.homestarrunner.com
  8. NS Screen and sound.

The reason I am asking is because I would love, (as a joke) to have the attached file play when this system I am working on goes down. sbtechno.zip
  9. NS Screen and sound.

Hehe either would be fine, although if you give me 6.1 I will want DvD playback too.
  10. i need help

I dont know if it has been done with PLC's, but I know it could be done. Here in Illinois the toll booths are automated. PLC's can talk to server PC's through many ways. I would recomend http://oeiweb.omron.com as a place to be able to download manuals for the omron PLC's and other systems. that would be a good reference. Also dont forget about the downloads section of MrPLC.

personally I think the problems in the workforce are easier than the ones from a college professor. I say this because in class they are trying to teach a concept so they want you to use what they are teaching. In the workforce you can program whatever mehod you want as long as it works correctly 100% of the time. I have no experience with programming any PLC's except Omron ones, but from talking to others I know, they say, "if you can learn to program Omron, you will be a better programmer and will be able to program any other type of PLC if faced with it." Also, the more you program, the easier it gets and the more powerful your programs become. This website is an amazing tool because even the age old experts learn new ways of doing things that are sometimes easier than what they were going to do. That is the key in my opinion -- never stop learning. If you keep an open mind to trying new things with your programming you will find many ways of doing almost any task. I find when I am programming, I look at it as making an all-powerful magic-box. I ask as many questions as i can about what the customer wants to put into the box now and in the future. (this is your inputs, your communications, cameras, etc...) Then I ask as many questions as I can about what they expect to see after they dump things into the box. (this is your outputs, your results, your communications again, controling motors, etc...) By writing down all this stuff, I now have my symbol table halfway done. As long as they get what they want out of my box, based on what they put into it, nothing else matters. That is why I like programming. nobody can tell me how to do what I do, and nobody bothers to try as long as my box works its magic.
  14. CQM1 with OD212 Output Card

The closest you can come is by having it switch relays which are wired to provide the PNP you desire. The other option is to get a different module.

Set the NS to node 1 set the PLC's PC/NT unit max to 2 Right now it appears you have the NS and the PLC as the same node. Also make sure the PLC's host link port is set for 115200 also. (I see you ahve the peripheral already set at this speed) A link to a basic setup that works for transfering can be found HERE

  21. Data logging

yes, that seems to work well.. I would have to agree with Jay, using data log graphing set for 28800 data points should get you 8 hours of recording. The fact that it auto rolls over from file 00 to file 99, you would be able to get a month per memory card. Just setup its read point to be the address that you want to record from (the input from your loadcell) I have attached a .rar file with some images to get you started logging.rar
  22. Data logging

Hmm... let me try that.. I was just using the default which I believe was 4.0
  23. Data logging

I would like to see some idea for others, because as I jumped into this headfirst I found that this isn't going to be easy due to the limitations of what tools I know about. Example: Could setup the plc to store the data being read every 1 second to a DM location using indirect addressing, but that will take 28,800 data points to make 8 hours (time you originally stated in first post of thread) Clipping it to the maximum 7000 data points you stated would be just under 2 hours of data. Not sure this is enough? To display the data is where I am having the trouble. --Using a broken line graph will only allow a maximum of 256 datapoints. Because of this I looked into the Data log Graph. This one only reads one point, but it saves its data, and with a memory card in the touchscreen you could save to a file. The problem with this method only allows 1000 data points, which is about 16 minutes. its also fairly unwieldly to look at. I also looked into a table, but its maximum size is 256. I was not aware that the graphs were limited in this way. Hopefully someone with more knowledge than me will have a better way of recording data and displaying it on the PT.

Havent forgotten, I just have been busy this week and I will need to try a couple things before I point you in the right direction.

The reason why your touchscreen is only "connecting" is because the touchscreen expects a PLC to communicate with. I will try to answer your questions in order: The PLC and the Touchscreen must be set up the same for communication. I assume you are using an RS232 connection between the two from the built in port on your PLC? Based on this assumption, you need to set the PLC to NTLink 1:N then set the Touchscreen to NTLink 1:N. Make sure you set their nodes to different numbers. I am not on a computer that I can open CX-P or NS-Designer so i will doublecheck these answers probably monday.
