  1. Auburn Hills, MIWork for a good company replacing me (leaving to become a teacher). Company needs someone who can set up and use Rockwell CompactLogix controllers, Rockwell VFDs, Rockwell servos. Need ability to code from scratch. Siemens skill a big plus.If you see things from a systems perspective and can show a good company face for customers you should do well.  Company is diversifying away from automotive, expanding the (robot cell) system build side of the business and needs a dedicated PLC software guy for the long-term. 25%ish travel, depending on the jobs they win. Travel schedule through September already set, single customer in Fort Wayne, IN area.  Contractors OK, I expect.Pay in line with industry standard, 1% 401(k) match, Blue Cross insurance.Extra advantage of being able to ask me anything about the company and get candid responses.   PM for email address to send a resume.
  2. Distributed Safety Acceptance Test

Is there a manual or guide that details the acceptance test procedure? Customer requires System Acceptance Test on their automation cell with safety PLC (CPU 319-F PN/DP). How is this test performed? The Distributed Safety Engineering class manual and SIMATIC Industrial Software S7 Distributed Safety Programming and Operating Manual give some information, but not enough to say an acceptance test has been performed. For example, section 11.2.2 of the Programming and Operating Manual, page 317, point #3 states "Check whether the version of S7 Distributed Safety used to compile the safety program corresponds to the version in Annex 1 of the Certification Report". Where is this Certification Report? I have found a Annex 1 of the Report to the Certificate Z10 09 07 67803 004 Safety-Related Programmable Systems SIMATIC S7 F/FH Systems Report No.: SN73321C-A1 Revision 3.18 dated 2014-03-21. Is this the correct report? Section 11.2.1 of the Programming and Operating Manual, page 315, point #1 states "Check the parameters of the F-CPU in the printout." And point #2 states "Check the safety-related parameters of all configured F-I/O in the printout." What are these parameters being checked against?
  3. OPC Items description

Thank you for posting the solution for posterity!
  4. How do I find where in a program (which block and network) a specific input address is used? Seems like a simple operation, but surfing the menus and my TIA Programming 1 manual haven't revealed anything yet.
  5. How to Find Where an Address is Used...?

As is so often the case, I found the answer shortly after asking the question. It seems I didn't notice my reference data was filtered. For posterity and future seekers here it is: From SIMATIC Manager, Options>Reference Data>Display (Or Ctrl+Alt+R) Choose Cross-References If your desired reference data type is not displayed, click the filter/pencil icon or go to View>Filter Check your desired reference data type (Inputs in my case) and click OK. The table will show whick blocks reference your data.
  6. ST...CN question

The way I understand your question, and please correct me if I'm wrong, is that you want the same program that's in the machine, but you want everything in english, and you're wondering if the hardware will accept the English program. If so then yes, the hardware will take the program. I believe there is a language setting internal to the PLC that the integrator will have to change beforehand. If you already have the program translated, you're looking at a rather simple operation.
  7. http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2012/04/ruggedcom-backdoor/ Hmm... What need does the equipment maker have for a backdoor in installed equipment? What right do they have? Will this behavior affect the industry's purchasing decisions?
