  1. Micro 820 through Ethernet?

If you think that you will want to have the option to use the Micro 800 gear in the future you really need to give it a try.  When you have some experience with the 800 it will make these decisions easier.  We have been using these (mostly the 850) for small systems.  Its very capable and has flexible communication options.  Thru Ethernet you can use Messaging or Modbus TCP/IP.  Maybe other options as well but we have not done a lot of networking applications.  The best way to describe the Micro 800 is to say that its Allen Bradley with a big taste of Europe.  We like it so far.
  2. FB ramp program

Hi; I have a fb that does PID it also implements a set point ramp function. What you are trying to do is reffered to as Ramp Soak control. It can be done but will require code external to the function block to change the setpoint and provide the new ramp times. Jim
  3. PID control

Hi All; I always found the PID instructions tedious to use so I wrapped it inside a function block. While I was at it I added features like Manual/Auto, Loop Enable, Bumpless transfer. Now its a real loop controller. I think the function block feature is the single best thing to happen in the Omron world in the last 25 years. Jim
