Hi All I have a PV 300 which I am hooking up to a Micrologix 1000, but I am having a problem establishing communication between PC and PV. The PV has only 1 RS232(DF1) port, which I have connected using a standard RS232 cable no luck, tried with a null modem cable still won't auto configure in RSlinx. The AB cable for connection PC - PV is 2711-K3A17 the PV manual shows pin assignments for most of the cables but not the above, can anyone provde me with the pin assignments for this cable?. Thanks Pete

Here's a link to a Knowledge base document about the cables that should be used with PV 300's and Micrologix. The bottom 2 cables apply to the PV 300 (not micro) It looks like you need a null modem for Micro to Panelview comms and a regular "straight through" for PC to PV comms.

Thanks for the link 93lt1. Still not got it up and running, I came across this info on another forum:- To Upload/Download from a PanelView 300 Model 2711-K3A5L1 AB Cable #2711-NC13 or use a straight through cable (ie pin 1 to pin 1) with DB-9 female connectors on both ends with no connection on pin 9 Use RSLinx 1747-PIC/AIC+ Driver Transfer Type RSLinx Network Select PanelView as Destination Local AB stockist informed me that the 2711-NC13 costs £60+ don't know if it's got gold leaf screening but it seems pretty expensive if I can use a straight through cable. though I have tried a straight through cable that dont work either. What is puzzling me is the RSLinx 1747-PIC/AIC+ Driver cannot find this driver in the version of RSLinx I have installed I am using Lite ver 2.20.02 build 126 is this driver only available in RSLinx proffesional? greatful for any help

I can't remember the driver you need off had from that verson. I think it still has the PIC in the name though.

The PIC driver is not a "professional only" thing. It is available in the newer releases of Linx lite. RSLinx lite is a free download at the Rockwell Software website.

Here is a linkto the RSLinx download page. IF you have a DF1 panelview, then the PIC driver is not required. You need the "RS-232 Devices" driver for DF1.

Of course... I tried my link and it requires you to register first, but it's still free just a couple extra steps.
