Micro 1500 & Panelview debugging

Recently, I programmed an small machine which used a Micrologix 1500 and a Panelview 550. During the programming and debugging, I was constantly switching cable from the laptop to the PLC, from the laptop to the Panelview and from the Panelview to the PLC. Is it possible to go online with the PLC and the touchscreen for programming and debugging - and have them communiating with each other? What do I need to make this happen? Thanks.

I didn't use 1500 in a long time but i think you can have 2 ports on it. Personally I like to do my development on SLC (504 or 505) nad then dump it into micrologix.

There are 2 flavors of ML 1500. LRP and LSP. The LRP offers two 232 ports so you can do just what you are asking. Another option you have if you are using DH-485, would be using 2 AIC+'s.
