Ally.Davidson you might be right. I noticed the other day that the blue hose going to the DL-40 did not have termination resistors. So far that seems like the most plausible scenario. Tommorrow I will try adding them. I also looked for an XP specific driver for the PCMK but could not find anything higher than NT. If anyone stumbles across it please post link. Being that I was connecting to other plc-5's with the included plug and play I figured it was ok. I want to thank all of you gurus and wizards for your patience with this lengthy post and for your helping an "up and comer"

Thanks for the driver. I tried adding the termination resistors this morning but it didn't help (oh well, needed to be done anyway). I'll update the PCMK and see if that does the trick.
