Proface ST panel and Omron CQM1

5 posts in this topic

Hi. I work on a brewery in Norway. A while ago we decided to buy and install a new Proface ST403 panel to operate togheter with our Omron CQM1 plc. We have tried as good as we could to obtain a working communication between the products. At this moment we have successfully transferred a basic screen with 1 button to the ST403. A special cable made from instructions given by the supplier is used to communicate between the PLC and ST403 (we have also tried the omron plc - omron panel cable). The error that keeps displaying on the panel is: "PLC NOT RESPONDING (02:FE:00)" What is most likely to be wrong? Edited by aassbeer

Not familiar with the Proface Unit. Omron default communication parameters would be 9600 baud, 7 data bits, 2 stop bits and even parity. "Protocol" should be Host Link. Although there are different protocols available. The Omron 9 pin port does not use an "IBM" standard pinout. See attached file for Omron pinout. Check the setup on the Proface unit. Make sure the port is set for RS232 comm with parameters as above. Verify the communication protocol that is being set for the panel. The CQM1 port setup can be changed if necessary. Procedure will depend on what software you are using. It can also be changed using a handheld. Hope this will help.

On doing some research on the Proface ST403, if looks like the cable should be similar to the Omron "universal" 9 pin, except do NOT connect pin 1. Omron 9 pin Cable at Mr.PLC.com The ST403 port can be setup as either RS232 or RS422. The Omron port is RS232. Hope this will help!

Hi: Just want help Make sure You have the the Correct ST401! This ST401-AG41-24V is with RS232C Connector, the rest are 422 or other. If you are using RS232, Proface Touch Screen Omron RS232C at CPU Pin 2--------------------------------------------------->Pin2 Pin 3--------------------------------------------------->Pin3 Pin 5--------------------------------------------------> Pin 9 Pin 4 & Pin Pin 5 Loop(Bridge) Make sure you GP Communication Setup is the Same as PLC, like Baud Rate..... Make Sure the System Start Address at GP is Reserved and You PLC Program must not used the same address!!!!
