Monitoring S7 314 and OP17

Can anybody help . How can I monitor both the PLC and OP17 when the connection between the PLC and OP17 is done with a Com Cable and not though a MPI connection.

the only way for a s7 314 with only program port to connect with the op17 is use MPI protocol. so you can moniter the plc with the op17 connected at the same time if you know how the MPI network works. use this MPI connector : 6ES7972-0BB12-0XA0 in the 314 program port, then you can connect the op17 and your pc at the same time by MPI.
