Crapped out CPU Dilemma

I have a small dilemma that maybe someone can help me with. I have machine that contains a failed Siemens S5 115U CPU 941 processor with program on EPROM. I need to replace it, and I have a spare 115U CPU 942. Is it possible to put the EPROM into the 942, reload, and run the program, or will a conversion have to be done?

Yes, you will not have to make modifications. CPUs 115 are very old. The software doesn't contain references to the type of CPU. The 942 is a bit faster and it have more RAM than 941. Edited 27 May 2005 by rgua
