Serial Ports not working

7 posts in this topic

I have a CP1L-EM and the serial ports - both of them have an issue with the port ready flag will not turn on.

Power cycle still no port ready flag

In settings both ports are set up as 15200 8N1 CR/LF

Verified and power cycled and still no port ready flag.

Is there someplace in the PLC where the ports can be disabled?

I have seen this once before although my memory on the cause is a bit cloudy. I believe I toggled A526.01 and that got it back in action. Have you poked around the A bits and words? Lots of information to look over. I think I locked up the port when an incorrect Baud/parity etc. was received and it wouldn't clear. Try removing the cable from the port and then reset it. If it becomes ready and then drops off again when you plug in the cable then it is likely a baud rate/parity etc. mismatch. Its a bit silly that it locks it up. Your issue may be totally different that was just my experience.

I was poking around in the A bits

killer is I couldn’t get the MB connected to my plc Cp1l em 20

so I load my pre into my Cp1l em 30 and the MB connected right up then I noticed the serial ports not working.

I swear someone doesn’t want me to succeed with this project

Sending and receiving SMS msg to from a Waveshare 4G DTU

Thanks a lot for the reply photovoltaic …

We've all made those - care to share what it was? I'm sure you weren't the first and won't be the last.

You asked for it

Remember DUMB

First off, I still cant get the CP1L-EM 20 to connect to the NB

The CP1L-EM 30 Connected right away

And the DUMB part was I didnt check the Com Port switches on the EM 30

I was so happy the NB worked I totally forgot...... Doh

Oddly enough I was thinking about the reason you might have been referring to last night when I should have been sleeping - this is exactly what came to mind. I bet you won't miss that again!

Don't feel bad, I have had probably 6 calls where people lost comms because of this. One customer sent me his PLC because the Serial port was "faulty".
