Reading a string value in excel?

Hi. I have various time/stamps setup in my program, so the date /time is a string. I want to read that string in excel where I monitor a lot of processes. Is this possible? I can read all other info, bools, sints, dints - but not a string?

It has been 15 years since I built it and I don't recall the intracies, but it worked when I posted it.

what is "my program"? post the examples. details matter.

Maybe just me but anytime I want to pull something into excel I just use the linx dde/opc topics. Very easy to read write tags to a plc

@VFD Guy you're correct the linx dde are sweet for small stuff, but MSOFT is deprecating DDE in favor of OPC so we're all going to have a learning curve eventually.
