Software requirements

Hi, 

Could any of you good people advise me on what software i require to access and make program changes to a s7-1200 controller. I’m looking for the cheapest option just to cover this requirement.

Ive been quoted for:  

6ES7822-1AA06-0YA5 (SIMATIC STEP 7 Prof. V16, Floating License; Engineering Software in TIA portal)
6AV2101-0AA06-0AA5 (SIMATIC WinCC Comfort V16, engineering software in TIA Portal Floating Licence).

This seems like overkill for what we need to do plus the expense!

They are also quoting you hmi software- which you didnt mention in your post

Have you the original project?

Do you know what version TIA was used to program it?

To upload from the PLC you will require the same version TIA as it was programmed in, see the following link -

If you have the project then you can migrate to a newer version of TIA.

If you register on the Siemens web site you can download a trial version of TIA which is fully functional for 21 days.
