CX Programmer and CQM1-CPU45

PLC noob here.

I'm trying to transfer the program from a CQM1-CPU45 via CX-Programmer Ver 9.75 to my pc, it gets right to the end and when you click OK CX-Programmer crashes/quits. I've tried this on multiple pc's and also a slightly older version of CX-programmer (was still 9.xx)

Tried CQM1-CIF02 to the peripheral port direct to setting DIP 5 on, Com port set to 9600;1,7,2,E

I've tried making my own serial cable to the following pinout and setting DIP 5 on, Com port set to 9600;1,7,2,E

Also tried these both to a FTDI US232R-100 USB virtual com 

 

I've also tried dip 5 off an using the peripheral port via CIF02, both using the config out of the settings and also by scanning the com ports with the network configuration tool

I have no problem connecting/monitoring or downloading a program, just CX-Programmer crashing on uploading from the PLC

In CX-Programmer I have tried a new project, configuring for my PLC and then uploading the program to the PC, also tried auto online, everything has the same end result. Auto online does detect the PLC as a CQM1-CPU43 which I've seen other people mention when searching for information 

Any suggestions welcomed.
