SLMP Failures

26 posts in this topic

Hello all,

I am new to using Mitsubishi and I am having issues communicating with my Cognex Camera. I have the camera configured in Datamn Setup Tool. I have the Ethernet card configured and validated. I am able to ping both devices and get a response on the network. However, I received an SLMP failure in Dataman and there's no communication between my camera and the controller.

Please see the attached photos to view how I have the camera and PLC configured.

Gambit,

Thanks for the response the options are as follows:

QCPU

LCPU

RCPU

IQFCPU

AND FXCPU

I have tried all the above settings and still the same result.

For clarification I am using an FX5U Controller with an FX5 E-NET Card.

Then I would choose the iQ-F CPU.

Any Errors on the ethernet module when the camera tries to connect ?

In the above FXCPU is set, instead of iQF (iQF = FX5) as Gambit mentioned.
Also I wonder what the options are under the dropdownbox of the menu selection "destination module".

As a reference you can check if you have any differences with the FX5-build in Ethernet poort. For test, I would recommend a lower data word instead of the 5000 range.
If you check with D100, D102 etc you are 100% sure there is no trouble in accessing the "latched" dataword range

I reselected IQ-F CPU

I do not have errors when the camera tries to connect.

I appreciate your responses and help!

Here are the options in the drop box.
I will attempt to reassign the Data registers and see if that helps!

Thanks for the response!

I attempted to Utilize all the options in the Destination drop-down box.

I also brought my Data Registers to D100, D102, and D104 respectively. I get the same feedback that the configurations are correct from colleagues but the problem persists.

I'm going to keep playing with this and if I can make this work I'll explain what/where I went wrong.

Update:

I've made a support request with Cognex. Hopefully, they may be able to offer some insight.

I appreciate the help and responses! I will update once this issue is resolved, just in case anyone else runs into this issue!

Good Afternoon!

DataMan cameras can not be configured in In-Sight and vice versa.

In-Sight Explorer wouldn't be able to find a data man camera either.

Sorry. I was left with the impression that the camera is In-Sight ez-100.

I don't know if it matters... i use Is7000 gen2 connected to FX5U with SLMP scanner.

I never got it working with the "Ethernet Devices (Cognex)" connection from the bottom of tihe connections list.

It only works with "SLMP Connection Module" connection.

I have 2 mashines each with fx5 and in-sight camera working with no issue.

Hi  Mystikaldrizzle,

I could make a test with a Mitsubishi R-CPU and SoftGOT using the SLMP protocol. After setup/test I noticed I was able to read the values on the GOT but was not able to write.
In the parameter settings for the RCPU there is a special option to select "enabling" the write by SLMP to the CPU. (see 2nd screenshot) After change I was able tor read/write the values via de SoftGOT towards the RCPU

For the parameters for FX5 a was not able to find that same setting, but I guess this is managed by the security settings. See screenshot.
In attachment the 2  sample programms SoftGOT2000 and R CPU project
Hope it helps you
