Cant´t download program to NS8

12 posts in this topic

Hi to everyone. I'm new to OMRON and I'm a bit lost...

I have the following setup: CJ2M-CPU33 + CJ1W-SCU41-V1 + NS8-TV01B-V2.

SCU41 Port1 is connected to NS8 PortA. The pinout of the cable is:

NS8, Pin 2 -> PLC, Pin 3

NS8, Pin 3 -> PLC, Pin 2

NS8, Pin 9 -> PLC, Pin 9

PLC, Pin4 -> PLC, Pin 5

I have tried different configurations bith in the PLC and CX-Designer with no luck. I can download the program to the PLC but can´t do so with the NS8.

I tried to download to the NS8 via USB, Ethernet and through the PLC. Nothing.

Could you please tell me the full configuration I must set in both devices?

Thank you beforehand!!

To program the NS8, you'll need to choose 'Transfer' in the 'PT' menu. Make sure to choose the proper Comms Method for the connection you are using. USB is probably the easiest.

Thank you for your reply. I've also tried USB, but when I do I get the error message "Cant open COM port". I don't know why and I also neither know what FINS parametrization do I need to configure for the USB communication.

<SOLVED> I needed the USB drivers. Now I could download the program from the PC to the NS8. Let's see if the PLC-NS communication works...

Make sure the Windows USB driver is installed properly. Do you see this in your Windows Device Manager?

Yes, the USB driver is OK. I can see that in the Device Manager and I could transfer the program to the NS8, but the HMI now only displays "Connecting..." :-S

Here is the correct cable to connect the NS to the PLC using serial ports.

Make sure the serial settings for SERIALA match the settings in the PLC.

Just checked/modified the serial cable. Here's the config I have. The NS8 is still "connecting..."

From the Unit setup information, looks like the baud rate is incorrect.

In the CJ1W-SCU41-V1 settings, you need to change the Port 2 Port Settings to User Settings, not default.

Then Transfer (PC to Unit).  Then cycle power on the PLC.
