Comm1 orange LED steady and communication problems

3 posts in this topic

Hello:

I need some help troubleshooting and fixing a communication problem with an OMRON C200HS CPU21 .

I don't know when and why it started, but the communication with the Computer through the peripheral port now fails; always. The orange led COMM1 is now always steady, although there is nothing connected to the peripherical port.

The communications with the HMI Screen is perfect through the RS232C port, and the COMM2 orange led blinks normally.

The PLC runs well: the program in it runs well and the machine operates as expected.

My computer and cables are ok, I tested them with some other PLCs C200HS and it's possible to communicate.with zero problems.

Can anyone help me to solve this problem.

If the orange COM1 light is on all the time with nothing connected, this sounds like you have a hardware issue with that port.  This is not too surprising considering that Omron has not sold C200HS PLCs in 20+ years (my guess).

If you need to backup, restore or program the PLC, you can use the RS232C Port. You'll need a Host Link cable.
