surge suppressor for PLC 120VAC input card

3 posts in this topic

per a spec i am bound by i must supply surge protection for each individual PLC input in my panel. These devices are all of the voltage free (dry contact type) where the 120VAC will be supplied by my panel. i found a WAGO MOV to ground terminal block and i believe this is the appropriate device to comply with the spec and protect my PLC input card from voltage transients. Has anyone used these devices before? Thanks for any help.

Several Yearsback we had a PLC Output Card driving 120 VAC Solenoids and it would die monthly due to transient spikes.  We found an off the shelf MOV from Digi-Key and then had a PC Board House make us an adapter.  We slid off the stock edge card and slid in this "tumor" mov card.  Sounds like your wago might also work.
