PLC reseting to default settings.

I recently had an incident where I had to power cycle a control cabinet containing an Allen Bradley 1176 - L33R and after restart the PLC booted up in REM PRO mode. Now the controls cabinet had been power cycled many time before and never had this issue, However this time it had done it. Why all of sudden did it reboot into this mode with no changes made to CPU?.

Please clarify between option 1 or option 2.

Option 1 - It came up in REM PRO and you recovered by placing the key in RUN or by connecting with RSLogix 5000 and placing it in REM RUN.

Option 2 - It came up in REM PRO and had no program.  You had to reload the program to get it to RUN.
