Testing servo motors/ drives.

Hello everyone,

Wanted to reach out to see how far someone can test servo motors and drives with a muti meter. I know how to do the diode check and ohm plus check for shorts. But is there any other test that can be done to check the motor magnets or farther check out the drive. I have just switched jobs and servo motors/drives are everywhere here and I really wanted to learn all I can about them. Thanks for any help. Will be much appreciated. I asked in the Allen Bradley form cause all the products here are Allen Bradley. Thanks again.

It won't be cheap but your local AB Distributor should be able to get you information on several Rockwell Automation classes dealing with Servo Drives, Motors and troubleshooting.  If you're going to be working in depth with Rockwell Product they are worth the penny to attend.
