Can I add a QJ71E71-100 Ethernet card into an expansion rack? (I think they call them extension base units)

In a Q system it doesn't matter where you put the cards.

so Yes even if it is slot 64

Thanks Gambit....I'm heavy Siemens background, can't use some modules in expansion. I think Rockwell you can as well (newer).

No problem that's what the site is for.

If I can help let me know.

If you want to program over it don't make the station number mistake

station number...

So the idea is to program over it, but will be connected to an OPC server as well, KEPware....So...ah...station number?

when you define the ethernet card in the network parameters you have to enter a network and station number.
These can be used in the program to read write data over ethernet.

However if you want to program over ethernet in the transfer setup  you need to enter the same values.
normally network 1 station 1. this is fine but you also have to do this for the PC side (ethernet board).
On default this is net 1 stat 1 also.

It won't work if both values are the same so.  just change one of the station numbers to a different value.
For the kepware OPC server you just need to define a port.

All I added was the Ethernet at 0100, had to change the Start XY layout at the point as they were set to 16 points, Intelligent is 32IO.jpg.e9184b2eab448265aeaf53970afc78a9.

yep most parameters need a hard reset but not all.

the allow remote reset parameter for instance doesn't.

Is everything working now ?

I can ping it and no errors, so is almost set up...

question though, on the integrated port, I have to set the protocol to UDP using "MC Protocol" and give it a port to be able to access this from KEPware. The "Open Settings" are different on the attached card and I can't select MC Protocol, only Active,Unpassive, FullPassive and Melsoft Connection.

Looks like they set it for Unpassive, I'll try some morphed settings.
