Posted 11 Dec 2019 has anyone tried connecting a encoder (Kubler) to a FX5u PLC before , apparently this is possible , i myself have never done this . any help?
Posted 12 Dec 2019 hi ... its the KUBLER-8.5873.5320.B301.S003 encoder , i dont have much more info on this unit ,i was told i can connect it to the FX5 built in rs-485 connection .
Posted 12 Dec 2019 This is your encoder: https://www.kuebler.com/en/products/measurement/encoders/product-finder/product-details/5873 Well, this is absolute encoder with ISS/BSSI interfaces and yes, it's RS-422/485 (differential line driver), but fx5U builtin rs-485 port is for serial communication and do not have standartd encoder profile protocols. Someone correct me if i'm wrong... Here's how this encoder work's: https://www.roboteq.com/index.php/applications/applications-blog/entry/how-ssi-encoders-works This encoder have also SIN/COSINE A/B 1024 ppr incremental outputs, but it's also differential driver outputs (5V). You can not red it with Fx5 since the inputs need 24V +-10% signals.
Posted 12 Dec 2019 Yes that is the encoder , and yes it wont work if connected to the inputs , had it connected with the 1.5k resistors and it doesnt make a difference if S/S is connected to 0v or 24v . also i have checked the Rs-422/485 settings and i do not see any settings for this . Thank you for your reply , taught i was overlooking something on the settings.
