I know that some models are no longer made - the FXo and the FXon But I have heard nothing completely phasing out the FX series, there are new models just on the market.

IMHO it would be stupid to discontinue the FX. FXos/FXo/FXon were and FX1s/FX1n are one of the best value choises on the market. The FX is more expensive but still beats the similar by price Allen Bradley Micrologix 1200/1500.

Actually, the products being discontinued are the really old FX, the FX0, the FX2, and the FX0S/FX0N. These are all legacy products already. The current products of FX1S/FX1N/FX2N/FX2NC are not being discontinued. This is the heart of the OEM and small project Mitsubishi PLC offering. But the older FX part numbers, like FX- and FX0- will be done away with. These old products have already been replaced by the FX1S/FX1N/FX2N offering. But some old stock exists and should for some time. But with program compatability between the units, it's kind of a no-brainer to replace the old with the new.
