Hello,

I have an .ACD file but do not have any software to read the controller tags. Can anyone please help me convert the file into a pdf? I can see from Notepad that is was made using RSLogix 5000 V21.

Thanks!

I don't know of any way to extract data from a .acd without Studio installed on the laptop. If the file is small enough that it can be attached to an email, you might try sending it to someone that has V21 or later. They can then export the tag data base and send it back to you as  a text or .csv file.

If you have RSLinx on your laptop and access to the controller, you can also monitor the tags live without going on line with the controller. Open Linx as an application and after setting up an appropriate driver for the network being used, right click on the controller and open the Data Monitor. It will produce an alpha-numeric list of the tags with their current values without interfering with controller operation.

If anyone has a trick for extracting data from a .acd without access to Studio, I'd love to hear it.

Hope this helps.

That's exactly what he was asking someone to do! He doesn't have the software, and wanted someone to print it for him. But at least you got credit for another post.

Here you go. See attached. One has just the controller tags. The other has the ladder in it as well. Sorry for the late response.

I don't have v21 installed, so I converted it to v24 and printed it out, selecting every option it let me select.

Hello everyone, I have two .ACD files attached that I would like to convert to PDF, unfortunately I no longer have the software to do this. Could you please help me?

I would only need:
- Ladder,
- Graphcet (SFC)
- Controller tags / Parameter (Inputs/Outputs)

Thank you very much

So....your ACD file is v20. I tried with v20, v24, and v32 and all 3 crashed while trying to generate a report. I'm normally able to print reports from that software, so I'm not sure what's going on. I may be able to try again (maybe export to L5K and re-import or something) but maybe not.  Hopefully someone else can chime in here and help you out.

I don't print projects very often but I tried this one. Something doesn't look right. It's still in progress for about 20 minutes now....

Yeah, it took a long time and the software would crash with a fatal error at the very end. All 3 versions I tried. I tried all 3 versions on a Windows 7 Virtual Machine and 2 of them on a Windows 10 Virtual Machine. All crashed at the end. It may just be one report that's tripping it up.

Not sure what reports you chose, I did a simple print routine to try it first and it printed fine. then generated a report and made sure to unselect everything... then only chose ladder and tags. The AOI in it are just doing small conversions.

I generally choose just about everything since the OP doesn't have the software and it's hard to know what they'll need to see. I may try again with just a ladder listing, but I usually don't have issues printing it all like that.
