Hi, im trying to connect a NS8 with a CJ2M thru serial port, and after downloading both programs to PT and PLC, the screen is just showing ''connecting''.

What could be wrong?

On the CJ2M PLC, you need to make sure the DIP Switch number 5 on on the CPU Unit is turned off.

Also make sure your RS-232 cable wiring is using the correct pin order, since Omron devices got a different pinout standard than the common RS-232.

There are many issues:

1)  You have the comm port on the HMI set to NT-Link (1:1).  It needs to be NT-Link (1:N).

2) On the PLC side, you have the link max set to 1, it needs to be 8.

3)  Connecting the HMI to a PLC in this fashion requires the use of RS422.  So, if using port A, you would need an adapter as shown in the image from the NS Setup manual  (Section 4-2-1 of the V083 manual) below:

If using port B, the adapter is not necessary as port B can be wired for RS422.  Of course the port on the PLC will need to support RS422 as well.

That should get you going in the right direction.

Here is another image from the CJ Operations manual (W393-E1-17 section 2-5-2):

I see he is specifying 1:N NT Link but I don't think it is necessary to use RS-422A.  If he just using one NS to one CJ3M then RS-232 will work fine.  IO will post the right cable for RS-232.

Oops.  I saw NS8 and somehow my brain interpreted it as 8 NS screens....

The dip switch nr.5 was set OFF, and when setting it to ON, it worked. Using a Option Board if that has any influence

Thanks for the help.
