Going Online RSLINX and RSlogix5000

Hi,

Forgive me, I am new with PLCs and have just now gotten RSLINX and RSLogix5000 to help me learn PLC Programming. I can't seem to go online in rslogix5000. I know I have to set up communication between RSLIX and Logix.

I went to whos who in RSLINX and I have Linx gateway, controlnet and AB_ETHIP-1, Ethernet.

when I select either one I still can't go online in logix.

I get a message when I try to go online:  failed to go online with the controller, RSLINX doesn't recognise the communication path. try checking the path by browsing in RSWho.

 Anyone's help will be greatly appreciated,

You have to set up the path within Logix first. Use the Online menu Who Active option. This will open a small RSWho window right within Logix. Then browse to your processor and you will be able to go online or upload/download. If you also set the project path (button at bottom), then you can use the Go Online command.
