Anyone connect a IFM Barcode Reader to CJ with Ethernet?

3 posts in this topic

I'm working on a project that would use an IFM 02I204 series barcode reader to connect to a PLC using a CJ1W-ENT21 card.  Has anyone got any barcode reader to work from plc to reader using Ethernet I/P?  I'd like to copy over your logic or at least see how it may work.  Thanks, Darren

Ok, I found an example, its set up a lot like devicenet.  I have to use network configurator to set up 450 bytes in and out and simply send a "00002T" command to start a test and look for a return.

Don't know if you're posting a wrong part number or not, because I can only find O2I304

Regardless, with CJ1W-ETN21 you cannot use Network Configurator. That's for CJ1W-EIP21, where you are using Ethernet/IP Protocol

With CJ1W-ETN21, you must use Socket Service TCP/IP Function by using ladder program. You can find good example for this topic on Omron W421 Manual (just look on the PDF in google). Looking on IFM spec sheet, they should be able to do TCP/IP communication
