Panel View 1000 Plus: application password reset

5 posts in this topic

I have this panel view 1000 plus with accounts enabled but customer forgot the app password. I have both the executable and source file. Can I retrieve the password from any of both files? Can accessing configuration mode help disabling security to enter new passwords?

Having the files, what is the best way of retake control over this application?

I am not experienced on AB equipment, but have general experience on automation. I have access to Factory Talk View.

Hi,

You can reset password.

Open source file in factory Talk View Studio.

Find "Users" in  'Users and Groups' folder (Explorer window)

Double click on the user you want reset password.

Create a new password,.

Create a run time  aplication and download it.

Thanks for your reply.

In this case, the Download of New app file is the last option (validation procedure is exhausting) and thank to you I can confirm it can be done.

I want to be sure there is no other way this can be done from configuration mode or by opening account files to "see" what the password is. Please confirm.

The same situation happened ,with  me  couple months ago.
And i did not find another way to solve this.
The only way is reset password or create other user.

Remember, when you download MER. file again, all passwords of the other users will comeback to original entry.

it can be a little problem if the users have  the possibility to change the password in the application.

As mentioned above, there is nothing in the configuration mode that allows you to make changes to the application. You can only change which application will run, the IP address, etc. Application changers have to be made in FactoryTalk View Studio, then create and download a newly modified .MER.

That said, you may consider creating a new display for your application that includes the admin add/modify users/groups features, which will allow you to modify passwords and such at the PanelView during runtime. This is usually a display that is accessible only by admins/supervisors so again, you'll still have to remember that password.
