Connect PV 550 with DH485 to SLC 5/04 CPU with rs232

3 posts in this topic

Hi All

I am new here without much experience of plcs.

I have a PV 550 with DH485 coms port that I want to replace another PV550 with rs232 that communicated with an SLC 5/04.

Is there some way to connect the two with a cable or protocol connector?

Alternatively can you connect through the printer port on a PV600?

CHeers

Please provide the complete catalog number(s) of your old PV550 and the new PV550.

Tell us how the old PV was connected to your SLC5/04 ( cables and hardware if any)

The printer port on a PV600 (standard PV) can be use for uplaod/download of its program or for a printer depending on its protocol.

On DH485 standard PV's the printer/AUX port can only be used for a printer.

Please provide the complete catalog number of your PV600.

Azza,

Your best bet in my opinion would be to purchase a 1761-NET-AIC to convert the DH485 signal to a RS232 signal to then connect to the 5/04. They are not too expensive, and will last a lifetime.
