PLC IP Address

3 posts in this topic

We have a CHP plant and is controlled by a Dief PLC. The PLC code is accessible via the web so I believe, unfortunately the service contractors have been given the punt and left without sharing the IP address, so we can't get access to diagnose errors/faults. Can anyone offer suggestions other than contacting the service contractors on how to get the IP address?

The IP address can be found using standard IP tools. Do a search on the 'net and learn how to use these tools.
A few of these are 'arp', 'ipconfig'.

Or if you can locate the "MAC ID" of the unit you can ping it.

But if you own it, call them up and ask for it.

Not sure why you would need the IP addresses to share information between PCs, provided they are on the same subnet, or have access to it through a router it would be moot.  What you do need is a common User Name in all PCs.  Add to the User List at least one identical user name and password on all the PCs that you want to share with.  Set the user as a Standard User or, in XP, a Power User.   You do not have to log on with this user, nor would you want to, you just need the identical User Name, Password and Group information in each PC's User Account.  That should do it.
