Posted 30 Jan 2016 Hi, I have a system which was not used for few years and now planning to use it/commission it. It is a Control logix platform, 1756-L61 ControlLogix 5561 rev 13.25. The battery fault is ON . As per AB literature 1756-L61 SERIES "A" should use battery 1756-BA1 and SERIES "B" should use battery 1756-BA2 if not then CPU could be affected. Could anyone pls advise how to find out the series of a CPU, i could find only the above information from controller properties. Thanks
Posted 31 Jan 2016 (edited) either right click on the processor in linx check the properties (maybe) or you'll have to pull it and read the label. if you're just trying to verify the battery, leave the power on and pull the battery and check it. if the light is on, it's not doing anything anyway. Posted 1 Feb 2016 1756-L6x ControlLogix Series A and Series B CPUs can be identified by looking at the front of the controller and at the battery pack (if it's an A-B part and not a counterfeit). Series A CPUs have the CompactFlash card slot on the bottom of the controller, so it is not accessible or visible when you open the plastic door on the front of the CPU. Series B CPUs have the CompactFlash card slot on the front of the controller; it will be visible when you open the door. Series A CPUs use the 1756-BA1 battery assembly, which has a white plastic jacket. Series B CPUs use the 1756-BA2 assembly, which has a blue plastic jacket. The serial port on the Series B is further back and to the left, and the battery connections are in different places and are different plug styles, and the Series B is about 1/4" taller than the rest of the modules so it extends a little bit further from the bottom of the chassis. But that's only useful if you are looking at two of them side by side. 1 person likes this
