SLC 5/03 CPU FAULT : Fault code=0001h

Hello, 

I am receiving this error Fault code=0001h after communicating with RS232. Bear in mind I also have a Battery fault. My battery has 0 volts as of right now. Is that related to Fault code=0001h ?

Open your program. Hit F1 and search for Fault Codes. 001h is NVRAM error occurred. Have you tried clearing it once it's powered up?

Hi, thanks for replying. Yeah I remember seeing NVRAM error. No I haven't tried clearing. What about battery fault? Could i still use the PLC with a dead battery?

In general the SLC-5/03's onboard capacitor will hold the memory for many hour, sometimes days at a time when the power is off and the battery is dead.    But in general you do want a good battery in the controller.

If you can reset the controller by cycling power to clear the NVRAM error, you can try to use it.   In general that's a bad error, though;  I think it comes when the bootloader is unable to get the OS to come up properly.
