Posted 24 Apr 2014 I need to communicate with a control unit for a refrigeration compressor, and the only way to get data from it is with profibus. The manufacturer of the control unit provided some function blocks made for a FX2N CPU. Will they work straight off with the FX3U-64DP-M profibus unit, or do I have to make changes to them ? It would be good to know, so I'll be a bit prepared before I go to the plant. I will X-check the manuals for differences, but I'm a bit lazy, so that's why I ask the question here before I start doing that.
Posted 24 Apr 2014 FX2N had a limited Profibus master module, but not sure it was ever even released. I know in the US they never released it. So from this side of the ocean I can't say if it will work or not.
Posted 24 Apr 2014 I've been reading and investigating a little about the function blocks. The module the blocks are made for is a FX2N-64DP-M, it seems to be quite similar to the FX3U-64DP-M module.
Posted 25 Apr 2014 The FX3U-64DP-M can be used in combination with a base unit of the FX3U series only. .
Posted 25 Apr 2014 I have a FX3U-16MT/DSS I will connect the FX3U-64DP-M to. But will the function block (for FX2N-64DP-M) from the manufacturer of the compressor work with the FX3U system right off, or do I need to change it ?
Posted 29 Apr 2014 (edited) Just what I suspected. I have looked for any data sheets or similar documents to see the difference between FX2N-64DP-M and FX3U-64DP-M, but I can only find documentation for the FX2N-32DP module. Anyone here that knows where I can get documentation for the FX2N-64DP-M module ?? Edit: Found a data sheet Edited 29 Apr 2014 by Bryll
Posted 29 Apr 2014 Maybe if you search for FX3U-64DP-M it will get better?? Or did you find what you needed?
Posted 29 Apr 2014 https://www.google.ru/search?q=FX2N-64DP-M&oq=FX2N-64DP-M&aqs=chrome..69i57&sourceid=chrome&es_sm=122&ie=UTF-
Posted 1 May 2014 I found the data sheets over the two modules and compared them. It seems that only the name is similar betwen them, so the function blocks from the compressor supplier was useless in this case. I'm almost done building my own blocks for the FX3U. Posted 17 Aug 2014 Can any one help me ? I have a profibus communication using FX3U-64DP-M to access a profibus slave the only thing I want is to monitor the slave outputs can I use it as one way communication ?
Posted 20 Aug 2014 Depends on the slave device. You need to know how it is set up on Profibus. You can read or write or both via Profibus depending on the slave device.
