PRP Recycling is focused on recycling post-consumer waste into reusable plastics for consumer products. At this time we have an exciting opportunity for a PLC Programmer-Controls Engineer based in our Southside Chicago location. Responsibilities include: • Designing, developing and implementing all PLC Programming (Allen Bradley) – building programs from the ground up including ladder diagrams, function block diagrams, structured text, etc. Building programs to interface with other PLC’s, HMI’s and databases. • Performs an assortment of complex engineering duties such as the design of manufacturing equipment, processes and lines, and the installation, operation, and maintenance of electrical components including hardware (circuit boards, electrical panels, etc.) and software (PLC and circuit board programming). • Provides support to existing equipment and activities in the use of electrical devices and components for commercial, manufacturing, and industrial use. • Works directly with engineers in other disciplines to support production design. • May provide work leadership and training to lower level professional and technical staff. Qualifications include: • Minimum 5-10 years stable work experience designing automated electro-mechanical machinery. • B.S. in Engineering or equivalent combination of experience and education. • Experience with PLC controls and programming (Allen Bradley strongly preferred, but will consider candidates with ABB or Siemens experience) and fractional horsepower AC and DC motor controls required. • Previous experience with designing and developing interfaces with HMI’s, databases (SQL preferred) and PLC to PLC communication preferred. • A high degree of mechanical and electrical aptitude. • Creative design and problem-solving skills as well as a master troubleshooter, familiar with mechanisms, motors, controls, clutches, brakes, gearing, tooling and assembly methods. • Experience with manufacturing methods and equipment, including machining tools and practices. • Fluency in CAD software a plus. • Excellent communication, interpersonal and team building skills. • Ability to travel up to 20%.
