STEP7 BASIC V12.00

4 posts in this topic

I have recently had a ghastly experience trying to install this new software on a 64bit Windows 7 laptop. Hours and hours of frustration installing/uninstalling software per Siemens Tech. Support. Registry patches and Automation License Manager appear to have resolved the installation. Now when I try to use the software and physically connect online to the hardware it takes FOREVER to go online [4-5 minutes]. Windows task manager shows the application is "Not Responding" during this delay period. Anyone have any suggestions how to resolve this long delay getting online. Are there Windows 7 settings or within STEP7 Basic that can be tweaked to improve performance?? VERY disappointed in this cumbersome software package [has slowed down laptop bootup time considerably]. B & B

Hello Friend to the same as you, I also own a 64-bit computer and w7 and I worked too well the version 12, I advice you to use a virtual machine like virtual box, I have the TIA PORTAL V11 and I have to work on windows xp, and I have not had any problems in communication and configuration of the equipment I have a trial version of the V12, and then it went well, if you want more information go to this page siemens: https://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/llisapi.dll?func=cslib.csinfo?=es&objID=29156492&subtype=133100 https://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/llisapi.dll?func=cslib.csinfo?=es&objID=29156492&subtype=133200 I hope you have luck in solving your problem http://automatizacioneindustria.blogspot.com/ Edited by DUVAN

I always like the simplicity of the microwin software but that series plcs are being discontinued soon. I don't know why plc programming software packages need to be so slow & bloated. The newer software is what turned me off the siemens plcs.
