+1 Look up ISA-88 and PackML they are formal sequencing and batching standards

Finally I have someone who agrees with me - painful stuff. To my mind state machines are a load of hoo haa too - for mechanical engineers without a clue.

I love SFC. I don't use it for everything, but where it makes sense. It is a different mindset, but once you get it, you will want to use it more.
