Cleaver-Brooks, Engineered Boiler Systems, a leading manufacturer of water tube boilers and energy recovery systems, has an opening for the following position in the Lincoln facility, located at 6940 Cornhusker Highway, Lincoln, NE 68507: Controls Engineer Basic Function: Coordinate instrumentation and controls engineering support and design efforts on basic projects following established policies and procedures. Participate in programming, debugging, and testing of existing boiler control systems. Support the selection and design of all control components to meet the specifications of new control packages. Duties include adherence to project contractual requirements, product design, technical definition, technical support of various product lines, and problem resolution. Must coordinate and control on-site installation and commissioning via contractors, engineering, service personnel and company representatives. Education: Bachelor of Science degree required; engineering discipline preferred. Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) license desired. Experience: Minimum of 3 - 5 years total post-graduate engineering experience preferred. Exposure to water tube boiler controls and operation desired. Exposure to PLC and loop controllers desired. Essential Duties: 1.Position requires the constant and consistent exercise of intellect, judgment, and ability commensurate with professional positions in similar industries or situations. 2.Position requires regular exercise of problem solving skills. 3.Ability to handle responsibilities with effective interpersonal skills and to effectively interface with others inside and outside the Company is required. 4.Communicates assignment status to superiors, and may participate in presentations to management. 5.Performs work, which includes conventional plans, or equipment for which there are precedents. 6.Provides technical assistance to other internal departments; participates in problem resolution as it relates to assigned product. 7.Position may require extended periods of operating personal computer or computer design equipment as a normal part of job duties. 8.Position requires ability to work in a normal office, designing/drafting environment and may require occasional/regular exposure to production plant(s) environment with welding, machining, and fabrication operations. 9.Must have the ability to travel occasionally, generally by air and utilization of a rental car; estimated time away from office <10%. 10.Remains current on safety regulations as they relate to the product line; communicates these requirements to others as needed. 11.May be responsible for the revisions of the technical contents of operating, installation and maintenance manuals. 12.Must utilize company MRP/ERP system (IFS) to create and track fabrication related documents, such as bills of materials, process sheets, inventory, part lookup, etc. 13.Must review and follow all ISO procedures and work instructions. 14.Interface with production personnel to provide all materials and design documents required to meet fabrication deadlines. 15.Ensure that necessary project plans and schedules are developed to meet contractual requirements, and initiate actions as needed to ensure achievement.
