AB Devicenet E700 VFD Upgrade?

2 posts in this topic

Hello, Currently, Mitsubishi is phasing out the E500 series VFD and replacing it with the E700. We have a shop full of E500 VFD's. The E700 Input Words have been changed. Has anyone else had issues with devicenet setup when changing out these drives? We're trying to get 6 Bytes to and from the VFD and we're having trouble getting the VFD to pass the Actual Current back to the PLC via Devicenet. We are using Allen-Bradley SLC5/04, Devicenet, and Mistubishi E700 series on FR-A7ND option module. Can anyone help please????

Traditionally, DeviceNet devices such as VFDs are "exchanging" 2 Input words (4 Bytes-Status + Feedback)) and 2 Output words (4 Bytes- Command + Reference)) with the "master" CPU. Since it looks like the new generation requires 3 Input and 3 Output words for DeviceNet integration, you will have to Re-Map the 1747-SDN Scanner Scanlist configuration and INCREASE the Advanced Mapping Bit Length for the respective nodes from 32 to 44 for both the Input and Output instances. Make sure "there is room" within the M-File to add the additional word without "overwriting" existing mapping since, sometimes, when efficiency is a must, the existing mapping is done contiguously. If the old mapping doesn't allow adding of 16 more bits to the existing Input or Output assemblies for the respective node, new mapping will need to be implemented. Edited by dmargineau
