USB to Profibus adapter

8 posts in this topic

I need an adapter to connect my laptop to profibus to connect to S7-200s, S7-300s, and S7-400s. I see the PC Card to profibus adapters but with computer manufacturers phasing out PC card slots I hate to invest in it. Do they make a USB to profibus adapter? Thanks TW

Yes, the CP5711 is the hottest thing right now...too bad its so bulky and sucks when you stick it in your laptop bag... if all you need is for S7 MPI you can use 6es7972-0cb20-0xa0 PC adapter USB

It does Profibus, but you need an active master to connect.

I'm still trying to understand how you do this, but need to be back at the plant to try it again first. There are at least 40 S7-200s connected to a S7-300 master but I wasn't able to see anything.

You need to ensure that the connection type is set to the USB PROFIBUS, then the speed has to be set up to match the network.
