RFID with Omron PLC

Can anyone share their experiences with Omron V680 RFID part-tracking system? The decision has been made to instal that system on one of our conveyor lines. (tags on pallets, etc.) Thanks

The OMRON RFID normally works. I dont think we have used the v680 but have used the v700 and v720 controllers. I would recommend carefully studying the manual to understand the different command types. And learning CX-protocol and allowing the protocol to take care of most of the messaging for you. There may even be some pre-written items as this is a OMRON product.

I have used V680 before. It has an RS232 port so I coupled it with a serial comm unit. You can read and write the tags by using TXDU / RXDU. Writing the send words is a bit tricky :) Just read the manuals and everything should be fine

We use the Omron CX-Programmer function blocks to read and write data to the RFID tags. We have not had any issues with the V680 tags. We use the PLC interface cards (CJ1W-V680-C12).
