Common applications for this include mixers stirrers and in this case a dyeing machine that reversed water flowing through the material to ensure an even dye. it is written with some nice simple STL code for the auto reversing. It has auto/man mode with a routine to stop fast reversing in manual mode. It can be easily altered to impliment a timed or counted batch It is a nice example of simple STL programming.
