New First Experience - Component PanelView Article

3 posts in this topic

Dave posted up a nice article on the new Component Panel view. http://www.mrplc.com/kb/index.php?page=ind...;id=84&c=29 Check it out. I was kind of curious myself how the interface was going to look without any offline software. Dave is Stupidav Allen Bradley released this new panel view to be a "low" cost HMI for OEMs. No software is required to program it. Just connect to it and design your HMI through a browser is the just of it.

Concerning 'offline' software for this unit. The AB site offers a 'Panelview Component Emulator' - http://www.ab.com/eoi/graphicterminals/pan...wcomponent.html On the right side - It runs in a separate windows process. There is also a 'loop-back' program. Though your browser thinks it is connecting with an external panel it is actually connecting, by way of the 'loop back' software, into the emulator. I haven't programmed an actual unit yet but the emulator worked well. Download the 'Quick Start' here - http://literature.rockwellautomation.com/i...N%20-%20English - it has a nice hands-on guided tour.

I really like the idea of an offline programmer that you don't have to pay extra for. There are limitations to what you can do with this PV unit. But overall I think I 'm going to spec this as much as possible. Thanks for the heads up!!! Edited by pabeader
