RSLogix install error

6 posts in this topic

I'm trying to install RSLogix 7.10.00 on a laptop with Windows XP home. I get an error 'Could not set RSICOMPANYDIRID identifier - Installation Failure [#14]'. Has anyone come across this error or know a way around this? I also tried installing an older version 6.10.10 with the same error. Thanks, Dan

Use "RSICOMPANYDIRID" as a keyword in the RA Knowledgebase and you'll come up with 4 documents, including Answer ID# 24022 that has the exact error message you described. No RA software is advertised or supported to be installed on the Windows XP Home operating system, so you might not get this to work.

XP Home has limited network capabiltiies as well...thats why stick with XP -Pro BTW- Are we talking RS Logix 5000 ver 7.0? If so, The last time I used RS5k7 was on a Windows 2k machine...Compatibility with any XP machine may not work.... Edited by jimdi4

Thanks for the replies. I did get this installed by modifying the registry. I just did not seach the correct keywords to find this in the RA Knowledgebase before i asked here. I'm only installing this on XP home temporarily, while I have the screen fixed on my other laptop with XP pro.

XP home's "limited network capabilities" are most often irrelevant here. It doesn't include IIS (web server), won't log onto a MS Windows Domain, and has simple file sharing enabled by default. None of those have much to do with RSLogix. I'm guessing there are some system libraries that Logix depends on that are only included with pro...maybe? Edited by Nathan
