  1. Direct Logic 05 Ethernet

I have a control that I want to use a Direct logic 05 plc in.  It is a really simple program but it is going into a plant that has a main control panel that runs the plant.  I dont know the brand of the plc in the main control.  They want to be able to send me a command from their plc to the direct logic to turn on my unit.  I suppose that would mean a simple set instruction to my plc.  I also have a couple alarm conditions that I want to send them.  For example if water pressure is to low I would put my unit in the alarm mode and send them a low water signal.  If the chemical is low likewise,   I dont have a clue how to do this in my program.  Can anyone give me some examples in direct logic plc program for making this happen??? Thank you Thank you Thank you. MikeC
  2. Help needed with MM430

Hi everyone, Now I used Micromaster 430 controlled by a PLC. I set parameters as follows: P0010: 0  P0100: 0 P0700: 2 (using BOP-2) P0701: 1 (start) P0702:12 Terminal 3+4: Connected to Analog output of the PLC  Terminal 5: connected to 24V via a relay which is controlled by the PLC DIP switch1 on (analog input1 with 0-20mA) When I turn on the relay to power to terminal 5, the inverter runs about 5 seconds, then stop automatically while terminal 5 is still powered. There are no fault and no alarm. I checked the parameter P0947 and P2110 with value 0. Especially, when I set P0700 = 1 (using Start button in Panel), the inverter runs well without stop automatically. Please give me some solutions.

  4. Remote Run/stop on FX0

Hello, I'm working on a project where I'm trying to create Remote Acces to old PLC's. The Mitsubishi FX0-20MR-ES is one of those PLC's. I got the remote access working by using a Serial to Ethernet converter, but I just found out that FX0 serie can only be put in Run or Stop mode by manually flipping the RUN/STOP switch on the PLC. I was wondering if there is any software solution that enables me to "simulate" the stop function while the switch is still set on RUN. That way I can still program the PLC from a remote location. I know this is possible with some PLC's by turning off a whole registry in the software, that way the PLC thinks it is in STOP while it's actually still running. I just don't know how this would work with the FX0. I hope someone can give me the solution I'm looking for. I'm looking forward to the reactions, Jimmy
  5. I am new to Automation Direct software and how the programs are written. Can anyone explain how they handle the analog outputs? My processor does not support the IBox that makes life easier, so I am having to do it the old hard way. I understand most of the logic of how its done for sending data to one channel but I don't understand how the channel selecting works. Can someone give me a programming example or explain how that works? I am looking at the online manual that Automation Direct provides for you for the analog module but I am having a difficult time trying to wrap my brain around how they do their analog stuff ><

  7. Hi All, I am doing an application that use servo motor to feed plastic film to a target length (set by operator), and it need to stop immediately if marker sensor is ON. This application is control by Omron CP1E PLC. It will feed plastic film in 500-1000mm/s depends on the target length set by operator. It is require to stop immediately if the servo feed length more than 90% of the target length and the marker sensor is ON. However, is there any possibility for the servo to stop immediately once the condition is meet? As I am using PLS2(887) to feed with target length, and INI(880) to stop immediately, however, it cannot get the desired result as servo not able to stop immediately after marker sensor is ON, I am not sure is because of the PLC scan time, or servo need time to deceleration (deceleration rate assigned to #FFFF). Appreciate anyone able to assist on this. Thank you.
  8. Hello I have a scenario that's been bugging me for some time now. The scenario consists of a Micrologix 1400 that I need to control it's output from modbus/tcp. In detail what I really need is to be able to manipulate the O0:0 through modbus/tcp. The PLC would be the master and I would be the slave that triggers the connection to the master. I'm using a Modbus-Client on my PC and that should be the slave. Any idea as to how I can manage that? Currently I can send data to the master but everything is "stored" on B10 and I have no idea how I could write directly on O0. Thanks a bunch guys. PS: I'm borderline noob.
  9.  Hi all. I have a question about how to set up the motor in rotary mode. My application will be a basic rotary table driven by a servo motor without gearbox between. So, in my servo drive axis settings, I select the motor as a rotary mode. then I defined the maximum position setting value for 360 degrees, and minimum to 0. So far so good. But the problem comes when I want to make an absolute move using the mc_moveAbsolute to move 360 degrees. Whit this settings the error "target position settings out of range " will come up. So, what is the solution to rotate 360 degrees without generating this error? if I set up the maximum value to 361 degrees and then if I rotate 360 the error will not occur and the motor will rotate 360 degrees as I aspected, but it's this correct ? or there is another way to do it? Thanks
  10. C-mode hostlink library for NJ/NX1P or CP1L

Anyone knows if there is a C-mode hostlink library for NJ/NX ? Also, a C-mode hostlink library for CP1L could be helpful, to translate such a library to work with NX1P is probaly less work whan writing a new library.  Maybe Omron France has developed such a library? - they seem very active..   Background: Looking into writing a programmatic c-mode hostlink master for NX1P12, this is for connecting the handheld NSH5 HMI to the NX1P12 via RS232C using a CIF01. I have the hardware set up, and an machine built, expected some compatibility efforts by Omron.... but the NSH5 seems to talk C-mode hostlink, and the CIF01 only seems to support the FINS version hostlink.   On the NJ you can of course add an SCU module, thus not need a library.  But working with NX1 ( due to limited space available ), you are dependet on available CIF-modules which do not support C-mode hostlink.

  13. Here is a link to a thread on a recent post showing how to communicate serially to an Omron PLC using VB.Net. This uses the Omron Host Link serial protocols. (C-Mode Commands) It will read 10 DM registers and display them on the form.   http://accautomation.ca/implementing-the-omron-host-link-protocol-vb-net/ Here is the source program that can be downloaded. 14. Hi, I have some trouble with a CJ2M-CPU33. My client did a backup to memory card earlier today, and after this we did some changes through remote link. Now the client wanted to restore the previous backup to the PLC and has done so, but the system would not function correctly. After going online on the PLC it seems like the PLC is stuck in "Stop/Programming Mode". When trying to change to "Monitor" or "Run" mode a dialog comes up containing the following message: "Failed to change the operating mode. The operating mode may be still changing in the PLC."  - All the dip switches are set to off after restoring backup - The PLC has been rebooted  - I have downloaded the application again through CX-programmer  - Verified that the PLC is set to start up in "Monitor mode" But nothing helps. The same message comes up when trying to change the operating mode.  Hoping anyone can help to resolve this issue as it is very critical for us and the client. In advance, thanks for any tips or help received. Best regards Stian

  17. PLC Training

Hi Everyone We are setting up a initial training in PLC programming for technicians, I got some experience with SIEMENS S7 but this seems to be an expensive choice, we would like to opt for a budget PLC but at the same time would like a user friendly software for teaching......I would like to have views of users of other PLC brands such as OMRON, MITSUBISHI or even Schneider??? thanks Jay
  18. Hello,  I have a micrologix 1400 plc connected to a length measurement gauge. The gauge sends an analog value to the plc to an analog input. I convert the value into a dimension and send it to F8:0. but I need this value in three different steps in the program. Since i just have one element of float (F8:0) is there anyway i can store the value in a different location or create more floating point tags eg. F8:1. F8:2 ?    Thank You
  19. I’m using a Omron NJ to manage a LinMot linear motor .. all is going very well; however, there have been a few times during this development phase when the actuator, or programming creates a fault, perhaps from a following error, or exceeding a limit.  The result is sometimes scary.  The actuator might accelerate into a hard stop.  Not a big deal, the ends are protected with Sorbothane, so it isn’t a big problem .. yet.  Once the system is correctly programmed, it shouldn’t ever accelerate an actuator into the hard stops. In spite of my newbie-ness  to Omron programming I’m aware of the need to employ error & fault action that will stop a run-away actuator in closed-loop control, rather quickly. Just how to do that.. has evaded my research. I’ve noticed:  “FaultHandler”  in the W507 & W508 Manuals. And, been quite frustrated to not find any reference to FaultHandler or FaultHandeler()  .. which kinda suggests it’s a program?… and also expected to get some clues in the "NJ Programming Best Practices V1.1”   so far… no luck. Perhaps I’m going about this all wrong..  The LinMot Driver Controller might be the way to go.. An error message from the NJ to the LinMot drive would quickly shut down movement in closed loop .. instead of turning the motor into a rail gun… Any suggestions at how to do it with the NJ,  would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks Regards, Michael PS: here’s the progress so far, thanks to many out there, and on this forum ... https://www.youtube.com/embed/B0UGm9JTw3U?rel=0
  20. I have recently come across a free virtual plc simulator called PLC Fiddle. It will enable you to create simple PLC ladder logic code within your browser. This is an ideal way in understanding PLC concepts for industrial automation. All of the basic PLC instructions that come with most plc units have been incorporated in this virtual PLC software.PLC Fiddle is currently in an early stage of development but is functional enough to be helpful to you in learning and understanding PLC concepts.  http://accautomation.ca/plc-fiddle-online-editor-and-simulator-in-your-browser/ YouTube Video: https://youtu.be/G43ZLOwu2dM www.plcfiddle.com Let me know what you think of this for a learning tool. Thanks, Garry
  21. Hello Friends,  I've been writing a program for several days now, Actually I'm an immature for CX programmer and also for plc programming, So I'd like to ask you, if there is any decent way ,,,,I mean a good method of starting to write a program and keeping the flow of it so, it is easy to keep track on what i've been doing from the beginning.??  Cuz sometimes I face the problem of loosing points that were written by myself but not remembering them, So I'd like to learn how to organize my written lines as a wanna be professional.   Thank you   :)
  22. Urgent help CS1 CPU Stop

Hello all, Require some urgent help on a project, apologies if poor explanation.... When CS1 CPU goes into stop mode in fault condition, eg fatal cycle time error, outputs retain in the state they were when CPU was stopped. In code we monitor CPU status and turn output high to pull in relay to indicate CPU status normal to wiring circuit. But if CPU goes into stop mode relay remains energise as code is not running to turn output off?? Therfore for examples conveyors keep running... How can we prevent this, can outputs be configured to go low if cpu stops? Any other ideas? Any help will be appreciate, thanks.

  24. Hello,  As the title indicates, we have a micrologix 1400 that has been installed for a long time.  Recently it faulted out on 71h and was in Remote Mode.  Do these PLCs revert to Remote Mode when in a fault condition?  We placed it back in Run Mode and everything worked fine, but how did it get to Remote Mode in the first place? Thanks,  J
  25. Hi,   I am using Omron CP1E NA 20DTD with built-in ANALOG inputs and output. I know how to deal with digital inputs. But I have no idea about analogue input wiring and programming. I tried connecting gefran LVDT PY2 directly to an analogue input of plc. But the indicator light did not turn on. Do I need to use any signal conditioner or converter? The output of lvdt is 0 to 25volts. I HAVE ATTACHED THE DATASHEET OF LVDT. DTS_PY2_06-2016_ENG.pdf
