  1. ASCII Code 8 Byte In Twido

Hey Guys!!!! I'm trying to use ASCII 8 bites in TWIDO PLC and on MOD BUS TCPIP it connected to WinCC , where I'm trying to read the ASCII in as a STRING char that to in 8bits. The problem I'm facing is that it is getting swapped like if I'm writing VA in PLC then on SCADA it is showing AV. In WinCC there is no setting for word swapping. Therefore Kindly help me for this in plc end

  3. Hi, I have variable (named var1) with data type 'Word[Unsigned]/Bit String [16-bit]' with Array [0..7]. I want to put 16 variables with data type 'bit' in var1. Is there function for that? Also is it possible to put 16 variables (bit) like this: var1[0].0:=bit1; var1[0].1:=bit2 etc. I'm using GX Works 2 with CPU L02 Best Regards

  5. Hello, i have simple problem but i do not  have solution for it. Therefore, i  have one source for example D0 and i whant on every cycle change destination of data registry for example from D100 to D200? To be more clearer i need to move value from the D0 in first iteration in D100, then in second iteration in D101 and so on. P.S. I working on FX3G nad FX3U with GX works2. Thank you in advance.
  6. Connecting Siemens S7-1200 to WMS

I am curious as to how I can connect my Siemens PLC to a Warehouse Management System.    We will be scanning totes, from there taking the tote number and sending that to the WMS.  Then the WMS will send me back the desired lane number.   I don't know where to start on this task. Please help.    Thanks
  7. Hi, I am using syswin and i am doing an exercise on saving and moving data. My challenge is am monitoring temperature from a sensor and the range is -20'C to 100'C from the 4-20mA sensor, after conversion and testing for positive and negative the values are stored in D205. (I have done the conversion and testing for positive and negative values only assigning of bit 15 in D205 is left) The simple program has to turn on Bit 15 if the value is supposed to be negative. 1000 0000 0000 0001, a simple approach to telling us this is -1’C.  0000 0000 0000 0001, is telling us this is 1’C. Bit 15 is going to be our Sign Flag, so we have to ensure that if the temperature is positive then  Bit 15 = 0, how can we do this make Bit 15 of D205 = 0? If the temperature is negative then  Bit 15 = 1, how can we do this make Bit 15 of D205 = 1? How can i turn on this bit inside a data word? for negative i thought i could just add #8000 to the values after conversion then storing in D205 but for positive values how do i ensure that bit 15 is 0? How could you approach this? Am a bit stuck, all thoughts and ideas are much appreciated if possible you could add a snapshot from syswin or cx-programmer. I have attached the WTANK.SWP file which can be opened in syswin or cx-programmer. Look in block Main 8 Temp Buffer, Network 3 Convert to 'C WTANK.SWP
  8. I am running a very large step based program on an NJ plc.  I have several status and alarm messages that I need to display on the screen during the auto cycle.  Right now I have set up unions in the PLC for the faults... but this is a very large program with a lot of possible faults.  I'm up to 9 16-bit array unions already.  It is just getting really cumbersome.   I would like to just write an INT to a data area for each fault and status message.  That way I can assign each step a 5 values to be used for faults and messages (ie: step one can use numbers 1-5, step 2 can use 6-10, etc) .  Then I want to have the NS display a message from the string table based on the value in the data area.  Is this possible?
  9. software question

Which type of software is used for data matching in excel sheet.
  10. I have an application I am currently working on where I have a single AB ControlLogix PLC that needs to read data from 12+ Omron CJ2M PLCs.  The Omron PLCs don't need to read any data from the AB.   I have tried several things including the generic .eds file from Omron and the instructions in the document I found on this site:  Omron CJ2 to Rockwell ControlLogix Ethernet/IP Datalink.  The generic .eds file gave me a D6 error on the Omron side and after talking to support it does not seem like the correct path.   When I tried following the instructions for the datalink I ran into several issues.  The first issue was that after configuring my network in the Omron software upon trying to load it I got a unit mismatch message for the 1756-EN2T, the .eds file I have is for a 1765-EN2T but the card shows as a 1756-EN2T/D, so I am concerned that could cause an issue...that being said I can't find any .eds file specifically for the /D revision.  The next thing I noticed was that there doesn't seem to be be a way to link the produced data from the Omron to the AB, the Omron configuration software with the AB .eds files loaded only gave me the option to send data to the Omron which we do not need to do.  I created a generic Ethernet module in my RSLogix program for the Omron PLC and then created a consumed tag and linked that to the module but I do not see where I set up the link on the Omron side for that, so how does it know what addresses to read?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!! Thank you!
  11. Hi, I'm trying to use a parameter pass a literal string (eg. "Tank Temperature") in a global object, but when it displays in the pop-up I'm passing it to, it shows up as all caps (eg. "TANK TEMPERATURE"). How do I fix this?  Thanks in advance PS. It's not showing up with quotation marks, I used the alt0160 to replace the spaces.  Is there something similar to fix the capitalization?
  12. IFIX Scada communication issues

I am new to ifix, I am having an issue, I am unable to receive any information, after attempting to fix the fact that the view was only pulling half the data I lost it all, I had a back up saved, but it didn't work on restoring communication, I was getting a cannot connect to node error, but I have fixed that, now all I am getting is question marks. essentially I believe that I have two standalone computers with the ifix software and the communicate directly with various plcs that share information across, either a ring topology or full connected. so the computer I have that is working is setup with scada and the database and MB1 with no network support, the one that is not working is set up the same, my cable connection is a usb to Ethernet and im communicating with a Comm port on the computer. I've tried different comm ports, even contacted GE, they were suppose to have someone call me back but no one has yet. Can anyone give me an idea of what I've got wrong here?
  13. HOSTLINK Problem

I  am doing  a data collection from  OMRON PLC CP1L through MS excel VBA  use API function. The connection was setuped correct (I think)both in PLC and PC side. The trick things is   when PLC have USB cable connected  the data  was send to PLC and can get feedback through RS232 in normal.(I use portmon moniter the progress, and I can see the data (C-command ).But when I get the USB cable removed  ,The PLC can not get any reponse back.Dose any of you have met that  before?

  20. Hi, I work as an industrial programmer primarily dealing with Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, and Omron PLC's as well as various peripheral devices. I would like to begin the process of learning computer programming as it pertains to the manufacturing industry. I'd like to learn how to write databases (SQL, etc) and VB apps and eventually I'd like to be able to write applications that can communicate with PLC's and other devices (although the last one would be a ways down the road).  I have very little experience with computer programming so I don't really know where to start. What language should I learn first? What free software is available to learn with? What resources do you recommend I use? I've downloaded Visual Basic Express and found some introductory courses online that I've just started but if there is something else I should've started with I'm open to suggestions. Thanks
  21. Product:             STEP7 Professional V13 Reference:           FB Declaration Static: Data type TON is not allowed here Description: ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Hi, I'm using Step7 Prof V13 SP1 upd7 & WinCC Adv V13 SP1 upd7.    In my project I'm using a 312CPU, Article No.: 6ES7 312-1AE14-0AB0, Version: V3.3 & TP1500 Comfort, Article No.:6AV2 124-0QC02-0AX0, Version:13.0.1.0   My Issue: I've taken previously used FB from my Global library and inserted it into my new Project. In this FB I've declared an IEC Timer (TON) in the static section of the FB. When I go to upload to the PLC after TIA carries out the compilation I get error message 'Data type TON is not allowed here'. I've tried creating a new FB to test and had same issue for CTU,CTD,TOF.   See attached pics This is really strange as it has always functioned before! Has anyone seen or heard of this issue before? I'd appreciate any help, Cheers.
  22. thesis project

Hello, For my thesis i'm using a beckhoff cx9020,a sunnyboy and a sunnyisland with rs485 communication protocol sma net. One of the things I need to do is to log everything from the sunny devices realtime. and here is where my problem starts. I am using rs485 to communicate with the devices via plc but I don't find any documention for what i need to request or send to get usefull data. does anyone here have an idea? 23. Data Historian Speed

I was just curious on which type of data historians are considered fast at retrieving historical data.  For example, if I wanted to trend a tag at a one second interval to review an event that took place a year ago and compare that to the same tag in real-time, what historian does this the fastest?
  24. Can anyone advise if there are data structure #s associated with each of the data types in Logix?  Example if it is a Bool, I believe Logix advises it is a 32 bit number.  But is there an "under the hood" data type reference number for each Logix data type?  I.E.  if it is a Bool, that is a RA data type #1, if it is a DINT, it is a RA data type #2, etc.
