  1. Sequencer Input

I have a program using the SQO instruction. However, I am looking to control my program with a sequencer input. I have never used the sequencer input before and I have 16 sensors to move cylinders using the sqo.
  2. The RTC on my micrologix 1100 is randomly getting disabled. I'm not writing to the RTC any place in the ladder logic. The only reference to it at all is one rung that used a compare with  the .hr value. The manual says this is a 'read only' bit. The battery bit is never set. When I pull it up in RxLogix500 and click on the 'Set date and time' button(function file) the disable bit goes back to zero and it starts back up. Is there any chance this could be battery related even though the battery bit is not set?

  4. I'm using AuthSmtp as my mail provider and I need to be able to specify the port number. I can't find a place in the rslogix 500 channel setup to put the port id. Currently I'm giving just giving it the host name 'authsmtp.com. I did try the ip address with the port number xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:xxxx but that didn't work either. Any thoughts are appreciated.
  5. Hi All Was wondering if anyone could help i've setup an OPC Server ok and can read all the tags from my PLC. Now i need to write to some of the tags so the warehouse can input production requirements. Has anyone done this or any idea on how to do this. Any help would be great. Cheers Chris
  6. I've been programming PLC's for about 2 months but working with other types of control systems for a few years. I'm currently building a program to control a water storage tank for the farm that will interface with advanced HMI. my issue right now is with my fault light stack and fault logic. im trying to use a NOT instruction so that the green light is always on unless the Red light comes on... so i thought i'd use NOT so that if N7:30 is not true or 1 then the green light is on but if it is true then its off or 0 ...but i keep ending up with -1 or -2 in the interger file. also, my OR logic of the yellow light that should trigger if any of my 4 tank level switches fault only works on one of the rungs... if either of the N22 or 23 come true then N7:31 comes true but it doesnt seem to work the same way on the rung for N7:20 or N7:21 to trigger N7:31... if either of them come true N7:31 doesnt come true. im submitting my logic for your review... thanks so much in advance. 7. Hello A-B Guru's, I have a small station with a Micrologix 1000 controller in it. Keep getting a "Major Halt Error S:1/13, Invalid STI interrupt set point. Refer to S:30." It is a very simple program, not using the STI instruction. Have a filter on the processor power. Nothing crazy going on, on the station, no big coils, etc. What can I do to prevent this fault from occurring? Can I add a line of code to always unlatch S:30? What should I do? Please help.
  8. I forgot how to do this. If I put in let's say 1234569632<cr><lf> how do I store the carriage return line feed along with the number in my ST file??? 1234569632(chr$13)(chr$10) something like this, but can't remember. Thanks
  9. Micrologix 1500 PLC tripping /stopping periodically with red led indication . It is showing error 679H It is also showing error on Analog Output Card which is at slot 6 . After clearing error it starts and stops again after some time . Requested to suggest me any solutions for eliminating the problem
  10. Good day, I´m helping with small project and currently i am stuck because of this problem. And I hope you can help me out. I´m using PowerFlex 525 connected with AB CompactLogix 1769-33ER PLC via EtherNet/IP. Connection is working, I can read and write values from/to 525. To configure both devices i´m using RSLogix 5000. 1) First problem occurs after I loaded configuration to 525 and it´s, that 525 keeps overwriting values of Accel and Decel Time 1. It happens when i directly change parameters in Module Properties (online) or after I upload configuration to device. It happens even if i set parameters directly to 525 with its HMI panel. - I kinda get around this problem when i use Accel/Decel Time 2 for Step logic, but if i send direct reference value motor still jump to it and that is not good, especially when changing direction of rotation. 2) Second problem is that I cant get Speed Sources and Start References right. Usually Is working only option 1 and others are not, or they are doing something else that they should. For better imagination this is what i want to do: I have 3-state switch (left = 1 ON(DigIn TrmBlk 02), 2 OFF; center = 1 OFF, 2 OFF; right = 1 OFF, 2 ON(DigIn TrmBlk 03)), In center position I want to control 525 with EtherNet (already working when: Start 1 AND Speed 1 = EtherNet/IP). In left position I want to control motor directly with Drive Pot and In left position a want to start Step Logic (which i have already set) - Funny thing, If I set Start 1 = Ethernet, Speed 1 = Step, Start 2,3 = DigIn, Speed 2,3 = Drive Pot then in all three position motor goes in Step logic.. Or when i get left and right position working then Ethernet is blocked.. and this kind of things.. I Attach print-screen of my current settings, if you need something more just, tell me. Thank you for your time, and I hope someone will be able to help me.
  11. Hello all, I have been trying to get my first C-more application to work and am pulling my hair out. I have an AB micrologix 1400 and am trying to connect it to a C-More EA9 with ethernet. I am using a cable directly from the panel to the plc. I can ping the PLC, and works well with RSlogix via the Ethernet cable. Nothing I do to the EA9 CMORE has worked yet. I have changed the ip settings several times. I can load the program with a USB and I can see it using the CMore software but I cannot transfer. AutomationDirect seems to be out of town this week and I can't get anyone to speak/talk with. There is no section on troubleshooting this as far as I have found. I have set the PC to : IP 10.0.0.65 Mask of 255.255.255.0 I have set the EA9 Panel to : IP 10.0.0.21 Mask of 255.255.255.0 I have set the Micrologix to : IP 10.0.0.10 Mask of 255.255.255.0 Thanks, Hutch07
  12. Hello, I am trying to communicate with MicroLogix 1100 from CompactLogix. But I keep getting an error and It says connection failure. This is what I have done so far. Can anyone tell me what I am missing? Regards,
  13. Good day to all, Please i need your support. I am new to world of Plc. I just bought a micrologix 1500(1764-24BWA) Plc for my training program. I have a question with respect to the Input terminal 24V DC. I connected L1,L2 and the ground at the Output terminal to a 230VAC and power On the Equipment, everything was okay. My question is do I still need to connect the -DC and + DC at the Input terminal to a 24VDC external power supply to get the needed 24VDC for the Input terminal or the 24VDC comes from the internal voltage conversion of the PLC. Once again thank you for the support. Best regards
  14. Automation professionals, I would like to read the display values of a red lion DP700 in a control logix PLC. I was able to successfully integrate both devices through EtherNet / IP and I am geting the corresponding values in a DINT register in the PLC. But the problem is that the value in the PLC register is not in the same format as in the DP700 display. The display reads the length of a product in inches like 288.484 etc. Where as the value in the register is a 10 digit number like 1133526516. For sure, there is a definite correlation between these two values but I am not able to figure out the exact relationship as a function of a formula. I have given below 25 data pairs for your analysis. I tried to find out the scaling factor (slope and offset). The scaling that I found fit the first 10 records but did not fit the remaining 15 records Can you help me to find out the relationship between the ? # DP700 PLC register 1 288484 1133526516 2 288627 1133531202 3 288631 1133531333 4 288739 1133534872 5 288741 1133534937 6 288742 1133534970 7 288746 1133535101 8 288757 1133535461 9 288776 1133536084 10 288796 1133536739 11 241060 1131482972 12 241043 1131481858 13 241027 1131480809 14 241032 1131481137 15 241055 1131482644 16 241038 1131481530 17 241078 1131484152 18 241025 1131480678 19 241030 1131481006 20 241037 1131481465 21 241040 1131481661 22 241023 1131480547 23 241053 1131482513 24 241041 1131481727 25 241077 1131484086

  18. CJ1W-TC001 PID question

What is Omron naming convention for PID settings? I need to adjust the upper MV limits for PID running on CJ1W-TC001 installed on CJ1M-CPU13. Looking at the CJ1W-TC001 Operation Manual I am not really sure which values would these be. I guess Omron naming nomenclature is a bit different than what I am used to. It seems that the Manipulated Value Monitor is just feedback, which value would I need to set or modify to adjust the upper MV limit?
  19. At work we have been having a slightly increasing number of instances where the Micrologix 1400 that is paired with a Panelview C400 resets values when we cycle the power. Originally we thought the solution was a bad battery in the ML1400. This was the case the first few times that it happened. However, we recently had one doing the same thing and when the program was loaded onto another PLC and HMI combo it had the same issue. So either the battery for both just happen to be bad, or there is something in the program that is forcing the values to automatically reset when the power is cycled. I cannot post the program on here but I can tell you that the tags that are being reset are only used in the PLC program once. There are six total that are being reset and they are the high and low range in an SCP function that is used to scale inputs. I will be testing the program myself in house on a bench setup, but I wanted to get this question out there as soon as possible in case it is not an obvious problem. Has anyone seen this before? Any suggestions? If I come up with an answer I will post it. Thanks.
  20. Hey guys, so for a while I've been wanting to get a little PLC for home that I can play with and just have some fun with. I don't know exactly what I will do with it, I mean I live in a 1 bedroom apartment in Minneapolis, so I don't exactly have a large workshop to set up projects, but maybe some home automation type stuff. I'll probably set up a little test board with din rail and terminals and just mess around with it when I get bored. Anyways... so I wasn't sure what to get. I've always liked Allen Bradley, but the licenses are so expensive, obviously. But now with my current job I have to take my laptop home in case someone needs support on one of our machines, so I have RSLogix5, 500 and 5000 software/licenses installed on my laptop, so I can just use that. So I was looking at my options. I was thinking about getting an Aurduino or Raspberry Pi, but I kind of wanted to stay with Allen Bradley since that is what I use at work, and I may as well learn as much as I can about that. Well anyways, 2 nights ago I had a few too many drinks after work and I was browsing eBay for used PLCs and I bid on/won a MicroLogix1000. It seemed like a good idea at the time, it says its fully functional, it has free shipping is only $85, and since I already have the software... So what are your guys' thoughts on the MicroLogix1000? To be specific, the one I bought was the: 1761-L32BWA MICROLOGIX-1000 Besides the software and the computer cable, is there anything else I will need? I don't need expansion cards with this, unless I want, because it has i/o built into the controller, correct? I will just need a 120VAC and 24VDC power supply? Thanks!
  21. Induction Motor with encoder

Hello, I am not sure if this topic is too far from what the forum concerns, but any advice is greatly appreciated including reference to other reference. I want to know if any induction motor has internal encoder equipped. We are using servo motors, and additionally an encoder for position check. Because the position control resolution requirement is about 1 degree, I am thinking about abandoning servo motor, and to use induction instead. Servo motor has internal encoders for outputting pulse information. And I wonder, if there are induction motors with internal encoders. Thanks in advance. Ting
  22. Hey guys, sorry for all of the newbie questions, I had 1-2 years of PLC training at a tech school, and then I got a job where I didn't use my knowledge at all for 2 years, and now my current job is all PLCs, and I have forgotten some of the stuff I learned, but it's coming back to me, so I appreciate all the help with the stupid questions. Anyways, here is my question. I am using a MicroLogix 1100 running RSLogix 500 to collect data on a few of our machines about scrap parts and run time vs down time. I just have some basic inputs hooked up to it. I need to be able to send the data to an integer file at the end of every shift, and then reset the current data (easy enough for me, at a certain time I will use a MOV function to move the info from the timers and counters to integers and then use a RES function to reset everything that I want). Anyways, my question is how to I tap into the free running clock built into the MicroLogix 1100? I see that it is S2:4, but I am confused how to use it or set it. I just set one up on a SLC 5/05 and that was super easy, I just set the time while it was online, and then used 3 different COMPARE functions to tell it when I wanted to move/reset the data (I used S:40, S:41 and S:42). Anyways, I can't seem to figure out how to tap into this clock on the MicroLogix 1100. Can anyone help me with a "dumbed down" step-by-step guide. I just want data sent at 6:30, 14:30 and 22:30 and then data reset 2 seconds after each of those times. Any help is truly and honestly appreciated and very useful. Thank you in advanced. Howard
  23. Hello I was searching the internet and I came up with this forum. Im excited to be part of it as a newbe I have a question on a micro 1100 with pto outputs to a stepper drive. The drive I'm using is anaheimautomation MBC25081TB - Stepper Drivers with DC Input. I was told that the sourcing output of the 1100 would work fine with the clock input on the drive. this is how I wired the drive and this is how the drive looks. Im not even sure what Im doing I have the plc set up and see it pulsing but for the life of me I can't get the drive to move. Can you please tell me the errors of my ways. Im very new to this and its killing me trying to get this running.
  24. Hello All, I want to read data from a Control Logix PLC, into a PLC5/60, using Ethernet and a MSG instruction in the PLC5. When verifying the MSG instruction in the PLC5, I get an error message. "Target Address in invalid". Once I figure out how to do this I need to replicate it in another PLC5. Scope is to read the status of 4 paint pumps controlled by the CLX. If any of the 4 stop, the PLC5 needs to know, because it is controlling the paint application equipment. Source data resides in a Control Logix 1756-L63. The tag is INT type, 4 elements long, and the name is PUMP_STS_B2. The IP address of the CLX is 4.2.6.230. There are 2 ENBT cards, one in slot 1, and the other in slot 3. 4.2.6.230 is slot 3. PLC2,5 / SLC Mapping has been created in the CLX. File=421 Name PUMP_STS_B1 and File=422 Name Pump_STS_B2. The file mappings represent a binary file created in each of the PLC5's B421:0~4 in Booth 1, and B422:0~4 in Booth 2. The PLC5/60 is Enhanced series E model using the Ethernet side card. The IP address of the PLC5 is 3.26.5.61. I also created MG file types in each of the PLC5/60. MG420:0~19 in each processor. This was necessary to use the MSG instruction in the PLC5. I have searched the forums for examples of how to do this with no solid results. I am trying to follow the best practices of reading the data into my PLC so anyone who follows can tell where it is coming from. While the IP addresses are not closely related they should be able to communicate. I say this because all of our PC's are on the 4.2.6.XXX network on a 255.255.252.0 sub net and we have no issue communicating with the 3.26.5.61 IP address. Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Mike Carter
  25. We are currently using a SureStep STP-DRV-4850 stepper drive from Automation Direct with their bipolar STPMTR23079D Stepper motor rated at 1.1 ohm, 2.8 amp per phase and 1.8 degree per step. The setup is a 24 volt rotary encoder 600 PPR AB quad that is turned 1 revolution per 6” of measured travel of the machine. We have a large “clock” dial that shows 24” of travel that the stepper motor directly turns. It has been programmed for 9600 pulse per revolution AB quadrature following and seems to follow the movement quite well. The issue that we having is several times a day the power is shut off to the machine and the stepper upon startup moves to the closest full step which looks to be about 3/8”. We need to save its location or at least keep the dial close to its current mircostep if possible. Do I have something set-up wrong? Should I be using a different drive? Thanks in advance!
