  1. Good Day, I am seeing intermittent bUs (communication bus) errors on 3 VFD's simultaneously.  These are Yaskawa P1000's with CM092 Industrial Ethernet Cards. There are Stratix 5700 switches between the drives and the Controllogix 1756-L75 CPU.  Happens every day to every week -- intermittent. Reading parameter F6-98, it indicates a 'connection time out'.  I don't understand why I would receive this fault.  IGMP snooping and querier are enabled on all switches, if that matters. I do not have unicast checked but Yaskawa said that didn't matter.  Packet time is 100 milliseconds.  I welcome any input on what might cause this.  One Yaskawa tech said I should set speed to 100 Mbps (now set at 10 Mbps). Any help appreciated.
  2. I am in the middle of doing a retrofit for a old PLC5 and i decided to upgrade it to a Control Logix. With how much I/O I was needing the price of the system was going to be very pricey. So I decided to use my main rack as a control logix and use Flex I/O for my remote racks. I have never put together a Flex I/O rack so I am unsure of what I need for this rack other than my I/O modules and a communication module. Could someone give me a list of what is needed for these systems?
  3. Hello, I have .ACD file but do not have any software to read ladder logic. Can anyone help me convert the file into pdf please?   Is there any software, apart from RSlogix, available out there to view this type of file?   Thanks, HA Skin_Measuring_3_05_18.ACD
  4. Hello, I've been wracking my brain, but I thought I remembered there was a way to store and execute a DLL file inside of a ControlLogix (not softlogix) controller? You could use exposed functions inside the DLL to fit your needs. Am I going crazy? Or is this not possible? Any insight into this is much appreciated. Thanks, neech
  5. I'm building a program from scratch for the first time in awhile and I'm noticing after adding an OA16 card that I have 32 bits of output data and the data type is a DINT.  I'm using version 30 now and when I open some of my older programs in ver.15 I notice those 16 bit cards are SINT and only have 16 bits of output data as I'd expect.  What gives, why am I seeing 32 bits for this 16 bit card?
  6. My client is a pharmaceutical company and they want to interface their Blood Gas Analyzer (which is a RAPIDPoint 500) to a Controllogix PLC via EtherNet. I have attached a Spec that I found, which gives the initial information you would need to do this. It says that the BGA can transmit data in ASCII. However, it doesn't list what bits I need to send to the device in order for it to send the PLC the data. I've tried contacting Siemen's (who makes the BGA) and they were useless. I also tried searching the RA knowledgebase.  Does anyone have any insight on how to communicate with a device in this way? Thank you Tyler RP500_LIS_5_20_13_-_Rev_C_.pdf
  7. I'm using Controllogix L61 redundancy system as a slave with DCS using ethernet tcp/ip socket programming. The communication between master and slave will fail after a switchover. Kindly give solution for this. Thanks and regards, Rasu
  8. Hi, I would like to know how to find a particular instruction in my ladder code. I'm on Logix designer. Thanks in advance
  9. We're running KEPServerEx 4.5 with the AB drivers to interface with a Siemens WinCC HMI. All we've done is change the L61 processor with an L72 and then KEP shows the incorrect values for the tags. We stick the L61 back in and all is okay. The Device properties haven't changed as the L72 is part of the ControlLogix 5500 family. The IP address is the same as well as the project name, etc. I've checked the properties against the KEP manual and all is okay. The manuals I have don't mention editing a device in KEPServerEx. I feel we've missed something. :hmmm: Any thoughts?
  10. Hi guys,  I am sorry for posting same issue over and over but  I really want to get over with this one. The way PLC program setup and actual structure of rack is different.   Could it be a problem when I try send an email from ControlLogix by using MSG command? When I put 1,2 in the path field, It shows Au200_2 but it is supposed to be Au200_3. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you for your time  I really appreciate it.
  11. We have L61's and L63's and are looking at upgrading them to the L7 equivalent. Has anyone had any experience of this and any pitfalls to avoid? Tech support have said that there might be issues with the comms cards resolved by updating their firmware. Is the upgrade that simple? We currently use Logix5000 at version 20.01 but are preparing to go to Studio5000 as part of the upgrade.
  12. Hello guys, I am trying to send an email from controlLogix controller. I have attached pics of where i am stuck with.  Can someone tell me what I have done wrong?  Thanks
  13. Hello guys, Newbie on this site. I am looking for a run time free Allen Bradley .NET driver. Basically a library (.dll) that implements communication protocols to Allen Bradley PLC's ( CIP, Ethernet/IP, etc.). Can someone point me in the right direction please ?.
  14. Greetings, I'm here in my home lab trying to acquire a working knowledge of UDT's.  I've had to work with them in the past in large existing programs and they were a pain to track down and find out what IO they were really controlling.  I have a decent understanding of what they are and I've created several to play with here using my softlogix processor and a digital flex IO rack. My issue starts when i'm trying connect my UDT's to the physical IO.  it looks like I cant use a simple move instruction (which would be way too easy and exactly what I need)  I have a flex IO 8 point output.  Local:1:O.Data[0] I have a UDT consisting of (see attachment) Valve001  Valve001.Out     Valve001.Out.OPEN     Valve001.Out.CLOSE   Valve001.In     Valve001.In.OPEN     Valve001.In.CLOSED I have a copy instruction set to copy Valve001    to Local:1:O.Data[0]     Length 2 that allows the Out.Open and Out.Close UDT's to control bits 0 and 1 of the 8 bit output . .... great. Now I have another UDT setup to control lighting... Door   Door.Out.OPEN   Door.Out.CLOSE I want to control bits 2 and 3 I make another copy instruction in a line before the original copy instruction that states Copy Door to Local:1:O.Data[0] Length 4 but i'm really just fighting for the same 2 bits that the valve controls.... how can I control bits 2 and 3 for the door/lighting logic using these UDT's?   and that's not yet getting into having physical inputs moved/copied to the UDT input bits. thanks!!

  16. Kinetix 6500

Hello All, I'm completely new to the motion control systems and I'm interested in learning servo programming and motion control. I was trying to find a good resource that I can start learning from A-Z, but I couldn't find any. I have a demo kit with compactlogix processor and two kinetix 6500 drives with servo motors. What is the best way to learn it. If you guys have any resources or basic sample program please help me. Any learning material would be helpful. Thank You All
  17. Hi, I have a ControlLogix L63 processor. We had a power outage the other day and the PLC went into Major Fault (Type 6, Code1). It is quite easy to find out what these mean (from vendor manual). However the major fault was reset before i looked at it, so i couldnt find any specific details on what routine faulted. There is GSV instruction in the fault handler to get the details of the Major Fault (MAJORFAULTRECORD). This recorded the TimeHigh, TimeLow, Code, Type and Info. I am now trying to determine what the date in the ".info" records mean (8 registers). I cant find this in any manual. Can someone help?
  18. I have an application I am currently working on where I have a single AB ControlLogix PLC that needs to read data from 12+ Omron CJ2M PLCs.  The Omron PLCs don't need to read any data from the AB.   I have tried several things including the generic .eds file from Omron and the instructions in the document I found on this site:  Omron CJ2 to Rockwell ControlLogix Ethernet/IP Datalink.  The generic .eds file gave me a D6 error on the Omron side and after talking to support it does not seem like the correct path.   When I tried following the instructions for the datalink I ran into several issues.  The first issue was that after configuring my network in the Omron software upon trying to load it I got a unit mismatch message for the 1756-EN2T, the .eds file I have is for a 1765-EN2T but the card shows as a 1756-EN2T/D, so I am concerned that could cause an issue...that being said I can't find any .eds file specifically for the /D revision.  The next thing I noticed was that there doesn't seem to be be a way to link the produced data from the Omron to the AB, the Omron configuration software with the AB .eds files loaded only gave me the option to send data to the Omron which we do not need to do.  I created a generic Ethernet module in my RSLogix program for the Omron PLC and then created a consumed tag and linked that to the module but I do not see where I set up the link on the Omron side for that, so how does it know what addresses to read?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!! Thank you!
  19. Gentleman…   Does Rockwell have any simulation PLC code that mimics an SMC-Flex soft starter?  Since we are using those (as well as the E3+ and E300) I would like to develop a model environment for starting of several drives.  In a specific case, we may have 3 or 4 drives in a pool of drives in which only a subset must be running at any one time.  Development of ladder logic for starting and maintaining those drives running while considering various fault conditions and startup issues would be very helpful in our environment.  I would like to be consistent among various areas within our plant that we incorporate pools of drives, from 4 to 2.  Having the ability to test in the lab would be very beneficial.  Thank you, David
  20. Hi, Good day to all,   I got a situation regarding the redundancy configuration. Please refer to the image attached (Page 26, Enhanced Redundancy User Manual). Notice the 1756 ControlLogix I/O inside the green box! The chassis hasn't got a CPU but only has an Ethernet IP module for the entire chassis. Does anyone know how to add and configure this chassis to the I/O configuration tree of RSLogix5K (Logix Designer 5k)? On my configuration, I've also inserted 2 MVI56E-MNETC Modbus TCP/IP Module in addition to the standard I/O Modules. Is my configuration possible? I appreciate any help I could get, thank you very much!   Sincerely, Andrei O. Karunungan
  21. Greetings, I've been having some issues with a vacuum pump breaker tripping... I think I've figured out the problem and resolved it but I noticed that several of the other motors have current monitoring on the HMI but the person who set this up is no longer with us.  I'm wondering what I need besides an analog input for my control logix processor (which I have) to setup this project.  I'm not sure if the other motors are just monitoring one leg of the 3 phases or if they are somehow showing total current?  any ideas and recommendations would be greatly appreciated.   thanks,

  23. Im working on a way to reset a RTO (retentative timer) that counts how long a motor runs above alarm current levels and keeps a record of the highest current recorded... currently it just counts forever but I want to reset it each month... and to possibly move data into monthly registers to evaluate and compare.   I have my GSV setup monitoring the clock and am trying to think of a way to monitor my WALLCLOCK[1] DINT that houses the month (Currently 2)   I want to trigger a reset anytime that DINT  changes state.... any ideas??
