  1. I am using TIA Portal V14 to program a Siemens Mobile HMI (KTP900 Mobile). I would like to pull up a program 'signature' from the HMI that would allow me to verify that the code in the HMI is the correct version.  This would help prevent an accidental overwrite of old code, resulting in a single Mobile HMI that has differing code from several others that are also in use. The closest comparison would be a Safety Signature from a Safety PLC.  However, I just want to use a file checksum or similar variable that I can put on my screen. Any ideas?  I appreciate it.

Hey everyone first post on here, does anyone know if it is possible to convert a string into a double integer. i am working with a dimensioner and it is sending me its box dimensions in a 12 char string (see attached picture). however i need this data as a double integer (it seems to just take the string length not the string value i have tried both dim_lengh and dim_length.data[0]). i have gotten it down to the point where i have the string split up into the dimensions i need but i dont know how to do the conversion. (box dims for reference are 21 X 15 X 14.8) Thanks in advance, Dr. Brule  
  3. All, I am using Keyence CV-X422A vision controller for my application. It is interfaced with Siemens S7-1500 PLC on PROFINET. I am able to communicate with Vision controller through PLC logic command and status IOs. There is some communication issue in updating the o/p values from Camera Controller. I have tried with & w/o Handshake Mode with these settings. The camera display shows the reject but camera never turns ON the NG Status o/p. I tried different things told by Keyence Tech support but none of them worked.  He told me to have you enable the “Result ACK Flag” in the bit allocation area and send  a signal to it. Then trigger it again with a no good part and see if that fixes the issue. I tried setting the “Result ACK Flag” to 1 after I get the “Command Complete Flag” for the trigger signal that I sent. Sometimes this works but still it is not reliable. Do I need to send only a pulse to “Result ACK Flag”? Anyone here has ever faced similar issue?  Thanks for your help. AP
  4. Greetings everyone, I have a Proface HMI(LT-4201TM Modular type DIO) connected to a siemens flow transmitter(MAG6000). Communication between these two devices is using modbus. The modbus register that im using to get the data/reading of a totalizer from siemens transmitter are 403022 and 403023. I managed to display the exact totalizer value from siemens transmitter on the Proface HMI screen. But I couldnt get the exact totalizer value at the ladder logic side, the value that i get at the ladder logic side seems like a raw value. For an example, the totalizer's value is 147083(real value), but at the ladder logic side the value for 403022=15598 and 403023=17316.   Can anyone guide me to solve this issue.   Thanks in advance.
  5. My issue is trying to receive data from a Datalogic PM9500 barcode scanner onto a Siemens ET200S (IM151-8 PN/DP) CPU using a serial interface card (6ES7 131-4BD01-0AB0) with the ASCII Protocol. The software that I'm using to program the PLC is TIA Portal V14. I made use of the built-in function block S_RCV to try and receive the data into a data block that I have created. I connected the Datalogic's base charger unit directly into the PLC's SI module. (I cut the DB9 plug off) So, Pin 5 (RXD) of the SI module is connected to the Tx wire (Brown) of the scanner, the Tx is also connected, as well as the ground, to the SI module, however, I only require the Rx. There is no flow control. Upon scanning a barcode, the Rx LED on the SI card flashes, indicating that something was received. I have tested the scanner using a terminal program called "Hercules", and I am receiving what I should be when I scan something. The parameters such as Parity, Stop Bits, and Baud Rate, etc, of the scanner corresponds to that of the SI module as well. I paramatized the S_RCV block as follows: 1.) EN_R is always ON. 2.) R is defaulted to the instance DB that was created with the function block's tag.  3.) LADDR  is set to "100" as that is the start address of my SI Module as defined in the device configuration. 4.) DB_NO is set to "2" as it is the number of the data block I created for storing the received data.  5.) DBB_NO is set to "0", which I understand to be the data blocks offset start point from where to start inputting the data. The rest of the NDR, ERROR, LEN, and STATUS outputs of the function block are also defaulted to the instance DB tags. I only want to see if I'm receiving the data from the barcode scanner into the datablock. I created an array of bytes and I also tried with characters  from 0 to 30 to store the data. As I mentioned, the problem comes when I'm trying to scan something, the RX LED on the SI module pulses, but when I monitor for any changes in the Function Block, as well as for any changes in the Datablock itself, nothing happens at all.  I don't know what If I'm missing something, this has been bugging me for some time now, I'm quite new to the whole programming scene, I would appreciate any help I could, get also I've attached the project file too. =)   Yumi_Panel.zap14

  9. Hello, I'm not sure if I should make some presentation first but as time is always short i'll just expose the doubt. Unfortunately because of a technician misunderstanding I ended resetting/erasing the PT software after a full memory error. The SW2 switch 1 was used and the system screen data program was erased instead of the program client data. So all the screens menus buttons etc were lost. Unfortunately there was no copy of the application but a similar machine was found were a different screen (NT21-ST121-E) was installed and by luck the programmer technician used the same file from the machine I'm dealing with. I suppose he might have done some modifications to make that machine able to deal with the same and different objects too. But the base menu screens seem exactly the same. In fact the screen buttons appear to be miss aligned as for a smaller screen, so for sure He used the same application. Now the problem is that the NT- Series Support Tool 4.82 only allow auto-conversion of the applications to a recent model. Example, if a make a NT20S application and change the PT type to NT21 it asks for conversion confirmation and all goes ok. (It will need to set Clock Address that I don't know which to chose). But this Is not what is the problem. Problem is that after uploading the application from the NT21 of the other machine to the NT Tool, I can't just download it to the NT20S PT. And if I go to the PT configuration menu it will only allow me to chose another higher model of hardware. Earlier hardware models won't even show in the list. Is there any tool I can use to convert back the NT21 application to the NT20S?   Regards.
  10. Hello, I need to make an ethernet communication Siemens S7-300 <> Omron G9SP. The HW of the Siemens that i us are CPU 315 2DP and CP 343-1 Lean. I did try to follow the Omron manuals Z922 and Z924, but faced with some problems. First of all in Z924 there is no complete HW configuration of Siemens (communication configuration is missing). Also, formats of messages differ in both manuals. Maybe there is an Simatic Step 7 project example, that i could open with Simatic Step 7 manager to do a deeper investigation, or maybe somebody has a lot more experience in this case?   11. PLC flickering issue

    We r using Siemens PLC S7 400 in small power plant. Sometimes this PLC flickers and plant stops for milliseconds and regains its position. All Digital outputs turns off and then regains its original position. Can anybody have solution for this....???

  15. Hello All, I am using Wonderware InTouch 10.0 on Windows 7. It's slightly outdated, but its what we have. I am currently writing a script using the StartApp command to open a particular PDF file with the touch of a button. My script looks like StartApp("C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat Reader DC\Reader\AcroRd32 C:\1.pdf"); The first part of the command runs adobe and the second part of the command opens the particular file "1". What I need to figure out is, how do I insert a variable into a string. For example I have 55 files I may potentially need to open up, all named 1-55. So I need the file I am calling to be a variable inside of the string so I can call it inside of a loop. I do not want to copy and paste this code 55 times, I want to make the file name a variable (tagname that is a memory real between 1 and 55) so I can run it in a loop. I have only been using Wonderware for a month or so now, so If anything is confusing feel free to ask. Thanks!

Hello   i have a versamax icu200udr064 and i want to connect it with simatic basic panel ktp 1200 dp  both support modbus rut but the problem is that i cant find GE communication driver on the tia portal by whom i program the HMI.  One more thing is that i found a communication driver for modbus rtu but the tags addresses are in the standard form for modbus, so is there any solution for this?  thanks a lot .  
  17. Good morning everyone!   I tried to open an older project with Factory Talk View ME which was last opened with “FactoryTalk View Studio 5.0 “. The current version that I have installed and licensed is Release Number 9.00.00 (CPR 9 SR 9), Patch/Pack Number: 00, Build Number 241. Upon opening the project, I receive the following error message:   “The target HMI project is a legacy project (Factory Talk View v6.00 or earlier). Please use the legacy Tag Database utility to convert its tag database to the new format (Factory Talk View v6.10 or later) before opening the HMI project on a computer running on a 64-bit operating system. Refer to Help for guidance.”   I tried to use the Legacy Tag Database Conversion tool, selected “Create Factory Talk View Tag Database in new format”, then I selected “Factory Talk view Machine Edition”, selected the source folder and used the option to “Search Sub-folders”. After hitting the Next button it shows a list of available projects, but the one project that I try to convert is not listed.   Any ideas how to approach this? Is it possible to install multiple revision supports with Factory Talk View? So, far I always used the latest and just created the run time as an older version, if the panel I used wasn’t updated.   Please let me know what you guys think I should try.

  21. Looking through the ladder logic on my program and came across an OTL instruction, and when I cross reference it, there's no OTU. Is this normal? It was my understanding any OTL instruction must have an OTU associated with it.
  22. Tia Portal V14 Real time graph

    I current have 2 variable: Displacement vs Pressure. I need to draw a real time graph on Comfort Panel. The problem with using just f(x) trend is that the minimum time between updating a point is 0.5 sec and that is for ever in my application as the whole cycle last only 5 sec and I have to plot 500 points in that time. Is there a way to do real time graph using Historical data without any time delay. If anybody can guide me through any sample program or material would e helpful. Thanks

    Hi guys, currently working on the communication with videojet 1620 printer (Continuous Inkjet Marking), in there operators manual (http://www.videojet.com/content/dam/Countries/North%20America/Operator-Manuals/CIJ/1620-Operator-Manual.pdf)  the say : - How to Configure Ethernet Port Refer to WSI/ESI Communications Protocol addendum for more information. But cant find this addendum anywhere in the web, all i did found is this pdf attached "Videojet 1510 and 1210 Simple Communications Protocol". I'have try it with th eprinter using the Ethernet port and all i can find open is the FTP(21), 3000, 3001 and VNC(5900).   24. Siemens S5 Backup Battery

    Hello All,   I have been tasked with sourcing some spare parts for a cabinet housing Siemens S5 PLC's. I have managed to source all of the CPU's, output cards, input cards, EPROM etc, I am currently trying to find a back up battery for the CPU. CPU part number is 6ES5 100-8MA02. According to the labeling on the CPU I require a 3.4v 850mAh battery. I think the part number for the battery is 6ES5 980-0MA11. This is proving difficult to source. Does anyone know where I can find one, or can I use an alternative, i.e a 3.6v?   Thanks
  25. Hi, I want to use a third party gateway with RS Logix5000 PLC over Ethernet/IP. Third party gateway has proprietary interface on the other side for diff types of devices. For this system I want to build a modular EDS file. First of all is it possible to have modular EDS file for third party devices with RS Logix5000. Thanks.
