  1. Hello  We have just purchased some equipment with a Control Logix 5561 (1756-L61/B Rev 13.40). The compact flash card is missing from the unit but the seller says the unit was running in his facility prior to shipping. Does the 5561 have internal memory where a program is stored? Is the Compact Flash used only for recipes and persistent data? Thank you
  2. I'm wanting to get upload the program from a CompactLogix L31 Controller.  I'm using a generic (non Allen Bradley) "C2G brand" usb -->rs232 cable coming directly off of my laptop because I don't have a serial port out.  The rs232 side of the C2G cable is a "pin out" or male end, and as you can see in the picture, the serial port at Channel 1 on the controller is also male.  I'm using a generic (non-Allen Bradley) null modem (female-->female) cable to complete the connection.  Ultimately, I'm not seeing the controller on linx.  But that's a result of me not being able to configure the driver.  When I try to auto configure this driver, Linx gives me an error saying, "Unable to verify settings due to a NAK!" btw, the rs232 cable going into channel 0 is for the HMI on the machine. A pv600 1. How do I get online and upload the program from the controller? 2. What does NAK mean?
  3. Can the PlC be accessed remotely. If I hook the CompactLogix L32E up to the internet WAN, would it be possible for an engineer to access and make changes to the program remotely?? Or does it have to be done onsite through the LAN.
  4. Hell PLC World! I have been trying for several weeks in my spare time at work to tune an Allen Bradley Servo Motor.  Below is the list of hardware I am currently using: - CompactLogix Motion Controller (1780-L33ERM) - Kinetix 350 Driver (2097-V34PR5-LM) - MPL Series Rotary Servo Motor (MPL-B310P-MJ74AA) I have been using RSLogix5000 for testing and I plan to use it to develop a simple conveyor type program later.  I have tried a list of things which will be below, but to no avail, I cannot simply jog the motor for any period of time without triggering a position, velocity or bus voltage error.  I have tried changing the motor, driver and feedback cable to no avail.  Here is the process I have used: 1) Add the hardware to RSLogix5000 (PLC, Driver and Motor) 2) Configure the motor 3) Run the hookup test.  This works flawlessly.  The motor will slowly turn independently on the feedback test for as many revolutions as I input.  This is what makes me think I am doing something wrong in the tuning process. 4) Run autotune process with the velocity, acceleration and jerk set well below the limits of the hardware.   5) Attempt manually control motion 6) Recieve error I have tried changing the input from trapezoidal to S-Curve, changed velocity and position limits, manually tuned velocity gains in a myriad of configurations.  I have swapped legs on the 3 phase input (which made matters worse). I suppose it is possible that multiple pieces of hardware are faulty because this equipment was previously used, but I still cannot wrap my head around why the hookup test would work so flawlessly, yet I cannot just get the servo to rotate at an equivalently low speed. If anyone recognizes my mistake, I would be eternally grateful.  I am an intern studying control systems in graduate school and as popular as AB is, I would sure like to get some experience with it.  Thanks in advance!
  5. Hello everyone,   I need to communicate a CompactLogix to a Kuka KRC 4 by Ethernet/IP but I do not know to generate the EDS file..... any clue please ?
  6. Hi Guys! I have a problem with array filling. I use rslogix 5000 software. I have to save the timestamp sometimes. I can save it with GET instruciton. Its a dint array which have 7 elements (year, month, day....and so on),  But my problem is I dont know, how can I solve that, they are in a bigger array. So like an array within the array. Idk it is possible ? I hope you know how I mean.  So I have 7 dint value in one array, and I want 1000 array for this. How can increase the position of the array number ?  Can anybody help me with that ?  Thank you in advance.
  7. Hello,  please i wish to simulate HSC in Allen Bradley 1400 using a square wave generator. i have built and tested the square wave generator it works well, the issue is how to wire it to Allen Bradley 1400. also i wish to understand IO Configuration filter settings, am using Allen Bradley 1400 B series Processor  Thanks  Square wave generator simulating with AB 1400 for HSC.pdf
  8. I'm trying to setup some interlock signals between a CompactLogix L33ERMS and an optical gauge.  The gauge only offers PROFINET as the fieldbus for interlock signals (hard-wiring is not an option).  The PROFINET connection for interlocks in the gauge is supplied via a Beckhoff EL6631-0010 PROFINET RT device terminal (connected to a Beckhoff CX8010 bus coupler, but I assume that is not relevant). The PROFINET connection on the CompactLogix side is supplied via ProSoft PLX31-EIP-PND "EtherNet/IP™ to PROFINET® IO Device Gateway". My PROFINET experience is zero, and the ProSoft gateway was selected before my involvement in the project.  It seems to me that one of the PROFINET devices needs to be a controller or "master" on the network.  Right now, both the ProSoft and Beckhoff devices appear to be devices or "slaves", but the terminology is fuzzy to me (PROFINET IO vs PROFINET RT, etc.). Should I be able to make the connection using current ProSoft Device gateway, or do I need to upgrade to a PLX82-EIP-PNC "EtherNet/IP™ to PROFINET Controller Gateway" or equivalent?  Does at least one of the devices on the network need to be controller-level? Any direction would be greatly appreciated.

How could I find ON State duration of an Input/Output, in Compact Logix PLC? So it would help me to show in HMI that how long the I/O is ON.Kindly assist me.Thanks in advance
  10. Hi All. Was wondering if anyone has any ladder logic examples for controlling a Keyence CV-X vision system. There does not seem to be any examples listed on Keyence's website.  I have the CV-X connected to Logix via Ethernet/IP and it does respond to trigger commands. I am having some issues with changing programs in the CV-X controller via PLC control. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
  11. Insert existing attachment A lot of automation cells we get done are made outside of shop so we don't typically have any current acd files for the plc. I am trying to make changes to the program but uploading seems to be giving me some problems. The initial upload seems to work fine I can select a file to save to and I begin to see the file being upload, the problem comes after about two minutes near the end of the upload. Attached is the error I see after the upload stops. Has anyone seen this problem before and know of a solution? Any help would be appreciated. 12. Hello forum! I'm using AB Compactlogix 1769 L35E CPU energized by 1769-PA2 power supply which is also supplying to 1769-SDN DeviceNet scanner, both via backplane. Trying to build a simply DN network connecting the scanner to a Balluff BNI DNT-104-000-Z004, which is a 16 PNP digital input block, since is only input module I rely that no extra power supply will be required. The problem is that when connecting both scanner and input block via my DN thick cable (Balluff BCC07YY), the input module does not energize. In fact I got no voltage reading when measuring voltage between scanner V+ and V- terminals. I measured voltage at 1769-PA2 power supply DC output (which is not in use) and its providing 24VDC, also scanner is powered on so I do not think the problem could be power supply nor backplane. Scanner display shows 92 number, scanner manual says that 92 error is "no devicenet power" and has the following description: No network power detected on DeviceNet port. Provide network power. Make sure the module drop cable is providing the proper power to the DeviceNet port. Which I do not get, is not the power supply from 1769-PA2 via backplane enough?  Is not the scanner supposed to provide voltage to the network? I've no grounding connection connected to PE yet (just between devices GND terminals)... is that a problem for testing this small network? It will be done soon but now I'm waiting for cable material. Actually I'm online using Studio5000 and have 1769-SDN DeviceNet scanner device declared at the project, there is no warning nor major fault displayed from the software. Thanks for reading.
  13. Hello, I'm new to PLC Programming, with just a simple course about the basics. I've got a micrologix 1400 PLC which seems to have had its program wiped when the battery was replaced. I've had the company that supplied the machine it runs send me the program for the PLC. However, I don't have any software to communicate with it, and download the program to the PLC. I was hoping some one here could help me out and direct me towards what I will need to do to get the new program installed on the PLC. Thank you
  14. I'm using a 1732e-ob8m8sr scheduled output block and the MAOC instruction to create a punching task. I'm already somewhat familiar with the instruction but I'm not sure if you're able to have two different MAOC instruction scheduling to the same armorblock. The first five outputs I want to make an output cam using position and duration as the condition for a punching task, but the last three outputs are cutter blades that need to be enabled at specific start and end position. I would also like to be able to phase shift (compensate) these features separately. Can I use two MAOC instructions as long as they don't try to overwrite the same output?
  15. I am needing some guidance on an application I'm working on. I'm trying to obtain data from a profinet slave device to an Allen Bradley compactlogix PLC. I am using a Prosoft PLX82-EIP-PNC profinet-/ethernet-ip gateway as a median to allow me to access the profinet data. In RSlogix5000, I have created an EIP Class 1 connection for the profinet controller and AB PLC (248 words of input data, 248 words of output data). The same structure is created in the profinet controller (248 words of input data, 248 words of output data). The profinet gateway and PLC are communicating properly. From my profinet slave device, I have a specification that the data is structured within a 23 byte format. Connecting to my profinet gateway, I can see this data. I have attached an image that shows the specification of the profinet data and the data values displayed inside the profinet controller. From the PLC side, I'm needing to be able to see this data and put it in meaningful values. I am using the profinet slave device's internal temperature as an example to work towards. I'm not sure the best way to be able to handle this data and structure it to a meaningful value inside the PLC. (I am using the device's internal temperature as an example to try and get into the PLC).   Thanks,

  17. Hi my problem may have a simple solution but i cant work it out. I need to use the Divide function but it wont let me use a decimal point in either Source A or Source B. Is there a way to use a decimal point in Logix 500 Math instructions? Im using an AB Micrologix 1400 PLC. Can you only use math instructions with whole numbers? is there a way around this? Thanks James

  19. Hi. I am new to Allen Bradley PLCs and bumped into the following issue, that I cannot find any solution to. When trying to add a module to the I/O configuration I get the attached error, error code 80131940. This prevents me from adding any hardware configurations in Logix Designer. I have tried to reinstall Logix Designer and uninstall all AOPs. I am running V30.00.00 on a Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 OS. Your feedback is very much appreciated.
  20. Hello, Back in December 2017, we replaced a customer's PLC-5 control system with a CompactLogix.  Everything was working fine until about a month ago, when they started having an I/O fault, Code 16 - I/O module connection failed on required module.  At first it was showing up on multiple modules, and also the end cap.  However, after a few more faults, it was only showing up on module 2.  We replaced that module and the faults stopped for about a week and then returned.  The module we replaced is a 1769-IA16. Any idea what may be causing this?  The customer insists nothing was done to the panel since the initial installation.
  21. Hi guys, I am trying to connect AB compactlogix 1769-L30ER through Ethernet cable to my laptop. I use Rslinx version 3.9 When I enter IP address it can find the CPU without any problem but it does not show the I/O. When I check the driver diagnostic, it says: Can't set port type to 288: no harmony object for this Ethernet I should mention that my OS is windows 7 and I turned off firewall as well. So, what does it mean and how I can get rid of this message? Thanks
  22. Good morning all, does anyone have any experience communicating to an OMNI Flow Computer through a MNET card, Im getting data back but it is not what i expected.  Should I be using Enron/Daniels? Byte Swapping? Thanks
  23. Hello,  I have a micrologix 1400 plc connected to a length measurement gauge. The gauge sends an analog value to the plc to an analog input. I convert the value into a dimension and send it to F8:0. but I need this value in three different steps in the program. Since i just have one element of float (F8:0) is there anyway i can store the value in a different location or create more floating point tags eg. F8:1. F8:2 ?    Thank You
  24. HOW TO CONNECT AB 1769-L33ER ETHERNET /IP TO MOD BUS RTU
  25. We have an auto-clave unit purchased at auction roughly 4 years ago.   CompactLogix L32e and PanelView Plus 1000.  All has been working for us until last week.  Suddenly, the program seems to freeze up after around 30 seconds.  I can still touch the panelview and the touches are registered, (the mouse icon moves) but the program does not respond and I can tell the program is frozen because the clock which displays seconds stops counting. When i boot into safe mode (clicking white box on boot) the system does not seem to freeze at all.  I am able to navigate those menus w/o issue.  We don't have any of the software to connect to the PLC.  I understand this is a somewhat broad issue, but does anyone have any idease where i can start in troubleshooting this? or is their any further info i can provide which would be helpful?
