  3. Hello - Not sure if this is the right place, I apologize if not. Just let me know if I need to move it and can delete and do so. But I am currently working on a project where I am collecting seeds (flower seeds, etc.) and when a certain weight limit is met I'll be turning off a vibratory bowl and opening a chute, etc. Looking for some ideas on the scale and how to do that process in particular. The smallest collection weight will be around 100mg, largest around 8g.  Mainly looking for ideas on the scale.  Thanks for any help/tips, much appreciate.
  4. Respected Friends, Good day. I face a serious issue please help me to fix the problem.  We have a 1756-L55/A controller with 1756/M13 A memory card. after 2 or 3 months the program washout and the LED status on the controller are following 1. RUN --- SOLID GREEN 2. I/O--- OFF 3. RS232 --- SOILD RED 4. OK --- SOLID RED 5. BAT-- OFF 6. FORCE-- OFF  At that time CONTROL NET MODULES OK Light for Chanel A and Chanel B are also blinking and communication not established via control net and serial port AB-DF1. I switched off the power supply and after 10 second again power up the controller then OK LED becomes solid green.  i download the program and its run fine. But the problem is still there. In the controller properties the major fault shows  TYPE 01 [ POWER UP FAULT] CODE 60 [NON RECOVERABLE FAULT] what are the possible reason for wash out the program from the memory?  At that time version 16.03 firmware installed and the rslogix program convert from version 10 to version 16.03.  Is 1756 L555/A with 1756/M13 A support the version 10 firmware? i ask because the original program is in version 10 if its supported then i update the firm ware and download the original program.   Hope you will help me in this issue. Regards
  5. Hello I have a scenario that's been bugging me for some time now. The scenario consists of a Micrologix 1400 that I need to control it's output from modbus/tcp. In detail what I really need is to be able to manipulate the O0:0 through modbus/tcp. The PLC would be the master and I would be the slave that triggers the connection to the master. I'm using a Modbus-Client on my PC and that should be the slave. Any idea as to how I can manage that? Currently I can send data to the master but everything is "stored" on B10 and I have no idea how I could write directly on O0. Thanks a bunch guys. PS: I'm borderline noob.
  6. Good day, I would like to extract the FT View SE Alarm Log. We currently have got a Excel spreadsheet set up with a connection to the FTAE SQL Database.  When I refresh the data, Excel give an error telling me that the data is more than what can be displayed in a spreadsheet. So it then discards the latest data. I have tried setting a database limit in the Factory Talk Administration console to only keep the last 60 days worth of data but it does not seem to take effect. I get data from January 2017 up to 15 October 2018. Is there a way to configure the ODBC connection in excel to only give me the data for the last 30 days or is there someone that can help me to limit the size of the database? I have attached the current connection config.
  7. Hello I am  a Robot Programmer. Fortunately  I would be beginning the PLC Programmer Interview Process. From Initial CV Screening and first round of Interview. Screening was easier. But unfortunately I am not good with PLC tech questions apart from that is involved with Robot Programming. I need a few questions to judge whether the applicant is faking his experience or does he has the qualities. If any PLC Programmers can help me, It would be a great help for me.   Thank You
  8. Is it possible to add another AB Rockwell PLC to the network tree as a Generic Ethernet Module and use it as IO? Any idea where I would find information regarding assembly instance and size of I/O/C for AB Rockwell products? If possible, what are the pros and cons when compared to produce/consume and MSG instructions? Don't need to use it real world, just curious. Many thanks in advance.
  9. Clearing an Array in RSLogix

I'm having a tough time clearing the entirety of an array. I've tried using the copy function, the clear, the fill and the the file synchronous copy functions. I'm solely trying to copy 0's into the entirety of a 20 tag array. Example Tag[0] to tag[20]. I saw another thread here: http://forums.mrplc.com/index.php?/topic/14678-clearing-an-array-in-rslogix-5000/  However, that didn't help me. Anyone have any shortcuts here?  Thanks so much in advance!
  10. The 1980s brought the early adoption of the PC platform in automation systems and the first large projects, using the PCs to communicate with PLCs. In the following decades, supervisory and control systems technology evolved, creating several generations of software tools and automation products. A generation means an evolutionary step and a new platform, with a total change of the programming methods, user interfaces and paradigms, going beyond than the merely incremental improvements that are made during the maintenance life cycle of products; a new generation means renewing the internal architecture. 12. Hey Guys, I'm somewhat new to Data logging so try to bare with me. I'm trying to setup Data logging in Factorytalk View SE to log to my SQL database. I have created the 32-bit ODBC system DSN. Created the datalog model in FT View Studio and selected ODBC and it created my tables fine (Float, String, Tag). I chose Login required. I also setup a File backup path. With that being said, when I use the command DatalogOn- It will start the Datalog model without any errors, but will only log to the backup path. It isn't logging anything to my SQL DB. I thought it could be the firewall blocking it so I created a rule to allow connections through the specified port. SQL is also allowing Reading/Writing.  Let me know if you guys have any suggestions. Thanks!
  13. Industrial automation

Hello! I am doing a project for an industry to make the sensor tools wireless. I am new to PLC. is it possible to make the measuring tools with sensors wireless with PLC? does it work on a industry environment and what kind of technology is best for comminucation? wifi or bluetooth?   The existing sensors are connected with wires to a screen which says if the product is ok or not ok. I need to make this wireless. Any suggestions to make it easy?   please suggest me the boards to buy to try prototyping.
  14. FX1N Counter operation

We are working on a project that operates a set of 4 pneumatic solenoid cylinders using GX developer PLC type FX1N (C). when the desired sequence is selected, the cylinders operate in the order needed until they reach the counter. the counter value increases by 1 but does not run through the sequence again and cant move forward until the value of the counter is reached.  any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

  16. Gang, Hooking up an Automation Direct P2-32TD2P to an AC/DC LED and noticed the LED is always "on" a little bit. When the output is on, the LED is certainly on, but when the output is off the LED is still on by a fractional amount, not much but it's plainly noticeable the room lights are off. The CPU can be in Stop, no matter, power just has to be on. I think this has to do with the card's load disconnected error functionality. +24V and some fraction of amps is always present at the output whether the output is on or off. I talked with automation people at work who noted there is an Allen Bradley system that does the same thing, it caused them a problem, they had to use a relay or etc to make an off output actually be off. Has anyone dealt with this? I'm new to the Productivity software, but there doesn't seem to be a way to just turn it off in the IDE. It seems ridiculous to have to wire up transistors or relays just to have off be off. Thanks for any ideas.
  17. Hey guys,   I have worked on the FTView ME platform many of times.  I am now working on a FTView SE (Local Station) application, and I am having trouble connecting an Offline .ACD file to my program so that I can design.   If someone could help me with this it would be greatly appreciated.   Thanks in advance!
  18. I'm writing an CIP-driver in C# for communication between a Rockwell PLC and a Raspberry Pi. Currently I'm debugging the Connect/Disconnect process. Everything works fine, I register a session, I start an start forward. When I press disconnect, I send an forward close to the PLC. En this seams to work. Only in Wireshark I see an error: "Destination Unknown". But I can't figure out why the destination is wrong. I filed everything in the correct order according to the table below.
  19. I am fairly new on this forum & PLC's, usually i read and get tips from here.I use a RsLogix 5000 PLC software. I am currently working on a project at home that requires me to read from a Access DB. What type of Instruction or method do i go about, initially reading from Access? I know Excel is possible It's an existing system. Add on functionality/feature. I am using a barcode scanner that will link up to a Access DB to verify the barcode is legit and send this info to a different system via PLC/EthernetThe access DB is used because its a older system, it uses that. So it is possible? and guessing from what your stating, its is more involved to get the system working eventually?PLC = A&B 1769-L23-QB1 CompactLogix Controller I am using FactoryTalk View Studio as HMI, do not have SCADA.I have a control logix chassis. Thank you in advance...
  20. I'm being asked to come up with ways to upgrade an old 5/05 rack. A few years ago I thought I remembered Allen Bradley having a special rack that would allow a new processor control various old IO types. Does anyone remember the name of that system? and has anyone used it? We will probably replace with an Automation Direct PLC (per their request) but, want to offer an Allen Bradley solution as well
  21. I Was wondering what other people do in regards to the follow up emails that rockwell support sends out after you use your service agreement. I try and fill in all the questions and give good feedback but i have also ignored them all together and never heard anything else. For the record I am a big fan of the rockwell support it may take several calls to get a problem resolved but they have never let me down.

  23. C-More Recipes

Hi everyone, I am using an EA9 touch panel from automation direct. I am using C-more's "call recipe" function to create and write new recipes, inputted by the user. My problem is that every time I make a change in C-more and send it to the panel, I lose all of the recipes created by the user because they are over written by the ones (there and not there) in my recipe database, on my computer. Now, I know this can be avoided by just uploading from the panel to start with. But inevitably, I will forget to do that one day. I would like to store the recipes on an SD card, so that they will not be lost when I make changes to the program. Has anyone done this before? Is it possible?
  24. Hello all, I am still fairly new to this forum and PLC's in general. I am trying to connect a EA9 touch panel via Ethernet to an Allen Bradley Micro Logix 1400 PLC. I am using Ethernet over serial because I need the serial connection to program while using the touch panel. I have given the Panel the IP Address 192.168.1.20 with a subnet mask 255.255.255.0 and I have given the PLC the IP address 192.168.1.10 with a subnet mask 255.255.255.0. The panel is not communicating with the PLC and I have very little knowledge on the subject, anyone's help would be greatly appreciated. The picture on the top is from the PLC and the picture on the bottom is from the C-More program for the panel.
