  1. Omron Learning Curve - DATA TYPES

Hello Everyone, Recently getting into Omron and I am wishing to pursue this type of PLC and software for a staple in my career. I have recently just graduated from a program involving PLC mainly Allen Bradley and one thing I have to say is that while making the transition from AB to Omron, the main difficulty I have had was with data types, specifically BCD, UINT, and CHANNEL. I am currently using the CX Programmer software for a few PID loops and they are causing me some great difficulty because normally I would just simply enter in all my values into a huge PID block in AB but that is not the case when it comes to CX-Programmer. Can anyone point me in the right direction of some manuals or e-learning places so I can quickly get a grasp on this so I can move ahead with the code. It is frustrating when you know how to do something and you just can't figure out how to put it into a software you aren't familiar with. Thanks for your help
  2. Hello All,   I really need help with a full version software of DM value editor for Keyence PLC. All the ones I have found dont seem to work or might be virus.... All help will be really appriciated! Thanks
  3. CX Designer using tables - Help

Hi all, I have been getting to grips with the different graphic displays in CX One Designer but I am having trouble trying to produce a table which shows column one as a label and column 2 as data value that I am polling from a Modbus slave. From what I have read/tried the data block table seems to require a csv as the data source and I cant seem to achieve what I want with the standard table. If anyone can advise how I might be able to achieve this I would be extremely grateful. Below is the sort of thing I'm hoping to achieve but in a table format:   Bearing 1 Temperature 80°C Bearing 1 Vibration 0.2 mm/s²         Bearing 2 Temperature 82°C Bearing 2 Vibration 0.2 mm/s²
  4. UDTs to Custom Data Structure

I have a reference HMI project that has many variables that have an Invalid data type. We are one by one trying to re-create the data types that are missing, but so far there is no easy way that I know of. Currently I re-create the UDT from scratch in a scrap offline project. (based on just looking at the variable elements in the ref project. Export the UDT to .XML file Import the UDT as a new custom structure into the toolbox At this point I can drag the structure from the toolbox into my variable list, and it creates a variable with what looks like a good structure. What I cant figure out is how to easily re-assign the old variable the new custom data type. Since the old variable is used all over the place, it cant be deleted, and if I rename it it changes every reference to it that exists, so that doesnt help either. The image posted shows the old variable "H_Header" and its properties as invalid type (also shows red X in the icon). below that is a new variable with the new data type. (no Red X). If I could delete H_Header I could then just rename the new variable to the same, but I cant because of its use. If I could change the data type from Invalid to H_Header, that would work, but its greyed out and wont let me change it. Any help appreciated
  5. Help with CC - Link IE Field

Hi Im working with an iQ-R CPU wich controls 6 conveyors with a CC-Link IE Field Network, the CC-Link module is a RJ71EN71. Each conveyor has a remote I/O (NZ2GF2B1-16TE Digital outputs main module with a NZ2EX2B1-16D extension for Digital Inputs). The communication in the CC - Link IE Field diagnostic appears to be OK, but I can´t send or receive IO signals from the Batch Monitor of Gx Works 3. Thanks for your attention!
  6. Good day  I require some assistance with the configuration setup (GX Works 3) for FX5u PLC inter-communication (PLC to PLC), over Ethernet (using the built-in Ethernet port). The purpose of the inter-connection is data exchange. (Values stored within the PLC storage registers such as words and bits).  Does anyone perhaps support files on this such as a procedure or example? Thanks
  7. Hello all, I have 7 Q series PLCs on a Melsec net/h network, Ladder Programming none of that fancy smancy ST stuff LOL. Were running the QJ71LP21-25. Now to keep it short I have used all most all my devices in my Network Range Assignment. I can not set up low speed range as I do not have enough Link relays and registers at all stations. No memory for more devices just trust that I can not do it... However I have an abundance of File Registers ( no I cant buy B or W in the PLC File params, well I can but it wont help because only one CPU is UDE the rest are H.) I have a project in which I must see about 50 words for each Station at every Station. I figured while I am setting up a Transient Transfer I will make a bunch of extra room for future updates and junk. My answer good or bad, is to set up some Send/Recv commands and do some Transient Transfer. I think I have it just about all figured out just a few questions. I have two manuals I have been getting my info from Q MELSECNET/H Network System Reference Manual ( I think SHNA080049)  and the Melsecnet/h training manual.  1.Any one have any better manuals that better cover transient transfer? Or that are new enough to mention GX Works2 instead of Developer? 2. Is there a max device for each send/recv? (I keep thinking it is 980 per station but no idea where I got this number)( I will increase the max # of transients in the supplementary settings under network range...) 3. Any precautions or advice like, Hey don't do this, I did this once and.... 4. It looks like as long as I use different logical channels for each station I should be able to send and receive multiple "messages" at once with no error?? (I will test this and look for the "no room in receive buffer area f222 error)  5. Will this slow down the Cyclic transfers (I will be watching the SW006D and so on to make sure it does not slow my regular transmission down.) 6. I will be using several special relays and registers in the program of course. Any I should use that are not obvious?
  8. We have L61's and L63's and are looking at upgrading them to the L7 equivalent. Has anyone had any experience of this and any pitfalls to avoid? Tech support have said that there might be issues with the comms cards resolved by updating their firmware. Is the upgrade that simple? We currently use Logix5000 at version 20.01 but are preparing to go to Studio5000 as part of the upgrade.

  12. Has anyone discovered a laptop that will connect to all mitsi PLC types (and Melfa Robots) via MELSOFT TCP connection. My Dell 5510 seems to have the most random dislike for this kit. at the moment it is happy to link to Q series but wont touch FX at the moment (this has not always been the case). I have checked all basics I know; 1. Pinging 2. Port setting to Melsoft 3.  Direct connection to FX3U-ENET avoiding the unmanaged switch (altering settings to suit). 4. Using FX Configurator to try and diagnose, checking the module settings in the project. 5. Disabling laptop wifi connections 6. Disabling firewall and AV. 7. Trying to setup a UDP connection (this seemed to work on Q series) Pffff..... Any thoughts?....I am obliged to use a site networked laptop so there maybe IT issues....however due to my ongoing frustration I will order a laptop and use offline like a wild man

  14. The title of this probably makes no sense, but I really wasn't sure what to call this thread. I'm working on a program for a Q Series, using ladder with labels.  This machine is going to have several status messages for the operator displayed on the HMI at the same time.  If I can figure this out my plan is to have a string display in the footer of a Proface HMI, with a "view next message" button.  Then I will write strings to the display giving the operator the status information and they will be able to press the next button to view the message- alternatively I could have a timer also that will auto refresh the display to the next message.     What I can't figure out, is how to queue the messages and have them wait for the button press or the timer to activate their MOV statement.  Essentially, I need to advance a register by one every time the "next" command is given- but if that status message is not active then I need to immediately skip to the next message.   I've thought about just incrementing a data register, but then how do I skip non-active messages?
  15. CP1E RS232 Setup

Hi everyone, I am fairly new here, I have a CP1E-N40DR-A And i need to send a string of data to a printer over rs232 from the built in port on the PLC, I have had a look online and canot find any information on what I need to do. all the tutorials are for CJ2 cpus ect and the instructions that I would normally use on a CJ2 dont work on CP1E PLC's. Any help or light shed would be great,  Thanks in advance
  16. I would like to use the actual Cycle Time (in seconds) of the NJ101 CPU in a Structured Text  math equation.  You might also call it the Task Period... However it's called, It needs to be the amount of time that has elapsed from the last calculation of the ST math equation.  It must be a variable that also satisfies this looping equation: Time:= Time +cycle time .. so that the master equation, which is calculating position information, based on TIME .. is up to date with each calculation in the loop. How do I insert that cycle-time, which might not be identical for each loop, (or, is it) ?  Thanks, Regards, Michael

  20. NB7W-TW00B Print Error 7300-FFFB

Good day lads, we encountered an error on a NByW-TW00B HMI, showing "Print Error 7300-FFFB". Checked already on the manual, which mentioned this : "Driver & UI Printer Settings Disable" (V106 manual, Section 7-9). What's worse is that NB manual doesn't give any workaround for any printer error. The NB is not connected to any printer. The "Enable Print" tickbox is unselected (checked both in the program and in the System Setup Screen). Also there is no button/macro which triggers any print function. Any of you have encountered this? Any advice is appreciated. Thank you
  21. Hello, i have simple problem but i do not  have solution for it. Therefore, i  have one source for example D0 and i whant on every cycle change destination of data registry for example from D100 to D200? To be more clearer i need to move value from the D0 in first iteration in D100, then in second iteration in D101 and so on. P.S. I working on FX3G nad FX3U with GX works2. Thank you in advance.
  22. CC-link no digital output

Hello, I have set up a new CC-link to add I/O to our existing factory PLC (Q03 series CPU). The CC-link system comprises of a master station (QJ61BT11N) and a remote device station (STlite STL-BT1) with several DI, DO and AD modules. Parameters are as per the STlite quick start guide example except no. of occupied stations is 3. In PLC Parameter I/O assignment the master station is a intelligent type and occupies 128 points from 0D00. Digital/analogue inputs are being read in the CPU and there are no error lights on either the master/remote stations. However digital output commands are not registered at the remote device station (LED lights on the module show which DO is active). Any help is greatly appreciated, I'm new to this and I've been hitting my head against a wall for a while on this one now. Cheers
  23. Connecting Siemens S7-1200 to WMS

I am curious as to how I can connect my Siemens PLC to a Warehouse Management System.    We will be scanning totes, from there taking the tote number and sending that to the WMS.  Then the WMS will send me back the desired lane number.   I don't know where to start on this task. Please help.    Thanks
  24. Hi I have a big issue with machine user access using loggin and password. There are different levels of login (operator, maintenance and admin) locked with physical key or password. The problem is that whenever any other user sees the password or got the key he can use it later. Is there another efficient way to lock the access and may be record who is logged when and how? Thanks
  25. Hi, I am using syswin and i am doing an exercise on saving and moving data. My challenge is am monitoring temperature from a sensor and the range is -20'C to 100'C from the 4-20mA sensor, after conversion and testing for positive and negative the values are stored in D205. (I have done the conversion and testing for positive and negative values only assigning of bit 15 in D205 is left) The simple program has to turn on Bit 15 if the value is supposed to be negative. 1000 0000 0000 0001, a simple approach to telling us this is -1’C.  0000 0000 0000 0001, is telling us this is 1’C. Bit 15 is going to be our Sign Flag, so we have to ensure that if the temperature is positive then  Bit 15 = 0, how can we do this make Bit 15 of D205 = 0? If the temperature is negative then  Bit 15 = 1, how can we do this make Bit 15 of D205 = 1? How can i turn on this bit inside a data word? for negative i thought i could just add #8000 to the values after conversion then storing in D205 but for positive values how do i ensure that bit 15 is 0? How could you approach this? Am a bit stuck, all thoughts and ideas are much appreciated if possible you could add a snapshot from syswin or cx-programmer. I have attached the WTANK.SWP file which can be opened in syswin or cx-programmer. Look in block Main 8 Temp Buffer, Network 3 Convert to 'C WTANK.SWP
